Welsh Labour may have used a government procurement card to maintain a yacht and to buy lingerie

Thanks to cuckooshoe for alerting me to this.

From Welsh Government procurement card spend data: 2021 to 2022 https://www.gov.wales/welsh-government-procurement-card-spend-data-2021-2022

I see 6 entries for fuel in Hafan Pwllheli Marina, in April, adding up to around £1 500.

3 entries for fixtures and fittings from Yachtshop, adding up to around £500.

1 entry for Health and Safety from Ocean Safety, at £2 900.

1 entry for Vehicle Maintenance from Holyhead Marina at £80.

1 entry for radar equipment at £41.

1 entry for Marine health and safety at £344.

and £45 with Cheap-Rope.co.uk for……cheap rope?

BBC Wales seem disinterested at the moment though in 2017, they did report:

£3,028.22 on yachting and boating and £103.91 at lingerie shop Victoria’s Secret.

Can you fritter money on a yacht? The Welsh public have a right to know!

  1. Nicola Sturgeon has been ”accused” of using several hundreds of £s to travel as a V.I.P on a trip to Dublin .
Imagine ! A First Minister using public money to travel as if she was an important person serving her country !
Perhaps she should have taken a private jet at a cost of £250,000 – like Liz Truss did ( when not even PM ! ) to Australia . Sadly for the UK , this was a return journey and put her in a position to splaff tens of billions of public cash when she was chosen as PM – instead of the lettuce !

  2. Labour has been in power in Wales either in coalition or its own since devolution since 1999.

This article is from 29 January 2023.

    https://www.wrexham.com/news/welsh-ministers-dont-use-the-only-welsh-commercial-airport-question-reveals-229891.html

“The Welsh Conservatives have published a response from the First Minister, in which they asked “Will the Minister provide a breakdown on
how many Ministerial trips abroad involved the use of Cardiff Airport?”

The answer reveals Welsh Government has never used Cardiff Airport for any international visits, with the Welsh Conservatives saying that is “despite wasting nearly a quarter of a billion pounds nationalising the airport a decade ago”.”‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

    continues

“Commenting, Mr Davies said: “So much for the Labour Government supporting Cardiff Airport – they can’t even be bothered to use it. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Not content with plundering £225m of taxpayer money to prop up the failing airport, Mark Drakeford and his government won’t use it for their jollies abroad.”

The comment above suggests Cardiff Airport is worth less now than when it was purchased by the Labour government!

  3. Found this article on Cardiff Airport on BBC Wales.

The article is dated 1 April 2023 and was updated 2 April 2023

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-politics-65137381

“Since the purchase, ministers have invested an additional £158m in the airport, with more in the pipeline.

They have also written off £42.6m of debt.

The airport is currently valued at about £15m.”

I notice the BBC Wales article refrains from calling it the Labour government.

  4. Anyone who has a #SNPBAD political ‘axe to grind’ will find a compliant and receptive media , in their UK , same media never willing to take the same position with Welsh Labour that they always take with the Scottish government/SNP…..

Where mountains from molehills is the norm…..indeed sometimes the molehills don’t even exist…..but that does not pose a problem for the media……they can run a story based on mere opinions from those who most unequivocally DO have a political ‘axe to grind’ against the SNP…..which then, as a ‘story’ grows arms and legs…….and then becomes a weekly soap opera, where the usual suspects (opposition) are cast as the goodies and the main characters (SNP) are presented as the baddies….the media even do repeats of these same storylines…..now there is (one of many) a good reason to NOT buy their TV Licence.

I know a blue tent may not be feasible for the yacht….but surely an inflatable one is warranted (LOL)……mind you as a previous commentator noted there is also a Yacht involved with a certain Tory Baroness….currently in hiding or on the run…whose purchase of said yacht is alleged to have been purchased from ill gotten gains sourced via an alleged very dodgy PPE contract….awarded via a dodgy VIP lane for Tory donors and too it seems also a certain Tory within the HOL’s ………when is someone, Baroness or not, who is ‘under investigation’ by the police then allowed to leave the country……new one on me…..but then I forget rules for some and rules for others….blue tents too it seems…..

Surprised at Mark Drakeford….I always saw him more as an M & S man …..perhaps not just Victoria’s secret but his too ( I jest of course as they, Labour, say these items bought fraudulently ……but surely that then is even more shocking and dare I say ‘controversial’ too…..how could that happen….and how could the Welsh police investigate that incident WITHOUT using Blue Tents…..Q’s Q’s…..in fact so many Q’s but none of them will be asked repeatedly or with such fervour by the media in the UK….for reasons…all too obvious to note)….
