Tom Gordon’s desperate attempt to hide the democratic dignity of the SNP’s modest finances

In the Herald today:

£70 million over nearly 10 years is a fortune?

In the year ending 31 December 2021, the Electoral Commission reported these income data:

Conservatives – £31 744 000

Labour £45 564 000

Lib Dems £5 733 339

SNP £4 510 460

Note how small the SNP ‘fortune’ really is and how the ‘clever money’ from those keen to avoid paying their taxes is flowing toward Labour.

The SNP revenue comes from its mass support. That’s democratic.

The others get their money from private investors who expect something, including private health corporations.

  1. The old journalistic hack trick of aggregating things over a number of years to get a BIG number, which is then quoted with no context, such as Tory, Labour and LibDem income over the same period – but that is ‘whataboutery’ said in a shouty voice.

  2. It lies and slander – just what we expect from the gutter press (ie most of it).
Still, it shows they are getting scared of the move towards Independence.

  3. Fairly desperate stuff even by Tom’s previous low standards…

Can’t help thinking he’s been tasked with dreaming up excuses why the Crown Office should prolong the PS investigation for that missing box of staples….

    1. I would have thought that Tom Gordon would be better employed trying to boost the Herald’s circulation figures, which has managed to loose 16,000 copies in the last few years!

  4. Since the Herald seems to have access to the SNP financial accounts, can we expect an expose with regard to the “missing” money or is that the subject of a police investigation?
