Queen of Bias – Fiona Bruce or Sarah Smith?

An r/Scotland visitor tries to refer to me, forgetting I’m cancelled there, but triggering an automatic message to me. I try to reply but find it’s/I’m an ‘error’ in that satire-free world.

The full debate is at:

I was attempting to suggest that Fiona Bruce’s anti-SNP bias is not new to us and share this from March 2021:

Gerry Hassan has tweeted with mastery of understatement on Sarah Smith’s latest reveal:

The spin of @BBC Scotland Editor Sarah Smith on the independent #HamiltonReport completely clearing Nicola Sturgeon saying this “will allow her to claim she has been vindicated.” Not a good look from the BBC or Smith.

Mean, grudging, foul-smelling, I’d say.

Anyhow, I make this the 7th offence in just over a year. She keeps sort of apologising, PQ colleagues say she’s being bullied by the Nats, and she goes on to do it again.

Here are my previous six best:

I’m grateful to https://twitter.com/PWMartin_Leith for some of these these reminders.

In November 2020, she told BBC 1:

Also in November 2020 she platformed one barber to tell us that the Scottish Government’s pandemic strategy was ‘Rubbish!’ and undermine compliance:

In June 2020, she clearly enjoyed this one:

In February 2020, she lied:

In July 2019, on drug treatment and the blanket refusal to allow safe injection spaces, she told us that, ‘of course it’s VERY convenient for the Scottish Government to argue that they’re being hampered by Westminster.’

In January 2018 she knew fine what she was doing:

  1. Glenn and Juan are the judges.

“And the result is in folks……..Sarah Smith wins…….by the width of a BRASS NECK”!
Though a score draw would also be appropriate.

  2. The BBC will never find against their own on claims of bias, and will throw the most expensive lawyers available at any complaint making it to so far as Ofcom.

It matters not what the ‘official’ response is, to the public, if it walks like duck, etc……

  3. Contrast the BBC attitude to bias against Scotland /SG/SNP and the recent grovelling apology to a former Israeli Government when Newsnight had the temerity to accuse Israel of violence against Palestinian children .
Their volte-face was so quick that there were scorch marks on the BBC carpets.

But in the eyes of the BBC Israel , albeit a foreign government , has far more sway and influence at Westminster than a mere signatory to The Union and therefore must be treated accordingly .
The interviewer who broke this unwritten code , that Israel must be treated differently from other countries who invade neighbours ( like Russia ? ) , will not be tolerated like Sarah or Fiona who consistently misrepresent the interests of non-violent /non-invading Scotland .

  4. Fiona Bruce only matters if yer daft enough to watch QT. Why do sensible people continue to do so?
As for Ms Smith, it is difficult to believe John Smith is the father of this woman. Or was he just kidding us on all the time?
Anyway, the only way to beat the BBC is to refuse to give them money. I ceased tobwatch live TV some years ago so I don’t need to buy a license. My life has been so much better since.

  5. For me, this highlights the best way treating the Sarah Smiths of this world – ‘inadvertently’ pulling their plugs out.

I’m surprised it hasn’t happened to Pacific Quay yet – must surely be worth a thought?

  6. The BBC are very very good at ‘Shutting the door’ on scandals linked to them via those they employ…..as in those infamous individuals that they, the BBC, employed who have now been exposed as being predators …….I say ‘Shutting the door’ but ‘Slamming it shut’ is more apt….locking it and the key thrown away….(plus let us not forget Robbie Gibb the active ‘Tory agent’ within the BBC…who played a significant role in determining the nature of the corporation’s news output ….his brother is a Tory MP, Nick Gibb, and Robbie himself worked for the Tories as a Director of Communications…currently he is on the Board as a member for England for a 3 year term….he was an editorial advisor for GB News prior to its launch in 2021 (the plot thickens)……he tried to block the BBC from probing the infamous Vote Leave £350 million to NHS big red bus….and also told BBC journalists at the BBC to not cast Brexit in a negative light….he also ,as a CURRENT BBC board member, ‘liked’ a tweet from a Tory MP that was an anti SNP tweet…..he was also accused of performing a “Hatchet job on Jeremy Corbyn” when he, Corbyn, led the Labour party….conflict of interest much….aye well it IS the BBC after all…..the best propaganda money can buy)…..well they, the BBC, kept him well hidden behind a door…a BLUE one obviously….

However they, the BBC here, are also very very good at ‘Leaving the door open’ on all and any ‘story’ that has been linked to the SNP…….meanwhile they choose NOT to open ANY doors on many ‘stories’ that are linked to Pro UK political parties….

Hence those who STILL watch their BBC news in Scotland are ONLY able to see what the BBC HERE IN Scotland want you to see and hear about…..

Fortunately FOR US some other media have an ‘OPEN DOOR’ policy for their viewers/listeners/readers….. where stories via all political parties are revealed……so none of them, as in political parties, are allowed to ‘hide behind closed doors’….

I prefer to get MY news via social media…..where , unlike the BBC here, there is no editing, omission and specially ‘selective’ FRAMING of stories but a true exposure of what is happening in the news where I am and too elsewhere……as in there is no ‘barrier’ to stop us finding out what they, Pro UK parties , are doing and saying….that is they all, on social media, are also NOT allowed to hide behind closed doors…..

Fiona Bruce or Sarah Smith……Hobson’s choice surely ???

  7. What do you expect from Fiona Bruce, married to Nigel Sharrocks, CEO of CARAT MANAGEMENT , who received a contract worth £3.9M TO ADVERTISE UK TORY GOVERNMENT POLICY!
