Yesterday on the Norrie Hunter show (https://caledonmedia.scot/shows/norrie-hunter-show/), I was able to choose a song that I thought resonated with Scotland.
I chose the song ‘Where I find my heaven‘ by the Gigolo Aunts, made famous by the film Dumb and Dumber.
Why did I choose it?
Well, first, because the title and the images of the ‘dumb’ duo motorcycling into the snowy mountains of Aspen Colorado reminds me of my time in the Scottish hills when I might struggle up a slope before turning to see this kind of thing:

Second, Dumb and Dumber reminded me of Alex Cole-Hamilton of the Lib Dumbs and then Douglas Ross, Anas Sarwar……
Later that day, I heard this and new resonances popped-up:
A public service announcement followed me home
The other day, I paid it never mind, go away
Shit’s so thick you can stir it with a stick-free Teflon whitewashed Presidency
We’re sick of being jerked around, wear that on your sleeveBroadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, Lord
Count your blessings
We’re sick of being jerked around
We all fall downHave you ever seen the televised St. Vitus subcommittee prize
Investigation dance? Those ants in pants glances
Says well, look behind the eyes, it’s a hallowed hollow anesthetized
Save my own ass, screw these guys, smoke and mirror lock downBroadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, Lord
Songwriters: Peter Lawrence Buck / William Thomas Berry / John Michael Stipe / Michael Edward Mills
Count your blessings
The papers wouldn’t lie
I sigh, not one more
Scottish resonances?
