Pretty much alone, the Times is reporting this ‘defiance’ from the regularly supine Anas Sarwar.
I can’t see this perspective anywhere else. Of course, ‘our’ media only do SNP civil wars and Scottish Labour are, they so hope, preparing for government.
If it’s true, then great, but it is interesting that Sarwar’s lack of defiance on the two-child cap and its role in massive child poverty has attracted so little and so soft reporting.
BBC Scotland ‘covered’ the controversy but did not ask Sarwar directly for comment.

Tis always presented as a ‘SPLIT’ within the SNP but NEVER a SPLIT within the Labour party…via HQ and branch office or within HQ via their MP’s/shadow cabinet or indeed within the branch office itself…as any actual SPLIT within Labour is then presented by the media as a mere ‘nothing to see here’ trivial and thus not worth OVER promoting wee tiff….as tis ONLY a ‘difference of opinion’ as in no big deal…indeed quite normal for any party (except the SNP obvs) …..
So as we witness Starmer, at New New Labour HQ, seemingly determined to take HIS New New Labour down the SAME calamitous path as the Tory HQ have already travelled along….while the Labour branch office , fully aware of that FACT, must then, in trying to keep onboard (fool) some gullible and uninformed voters in Scotland, put on a SHOW that they , as members of the SAME Labour as HQ, are (kinda meekly) opposed to, not SPLIT on…. nope as that is never to be suggested or publicised….. but ….instead we are told they have have a wee ‘difference of opinion’ to Labour HQ…..alas they, the branch office do not dictate or control Labour HQ policy or direction, and so when push comes to shove they will eventually be compelled to tow the party line….as in do what they are telt via Labour HQ !…though really they already DO agree with most of Labour HQ policy it’s just that they cannot promote or admit that as they think they have a chance to ‘win back’ ‘reclaim’ the same voters in Scotland that they betrayed in 2014…..and that they are now currently also trying to con and betray ….as the (pound shop) Tories or rather the (pseudo) socialists that they pretend they are….but are NOT. (Sarwar is Starmer’s MAN in Scotland)
Vote Labour in Scotland and you then get another version of a TORY UK Government, if they , New New Labour , do indeed win the next GE….and you also, as a nation (Scotland), inherit the SAME Tory Brexit and the SAME Tory polices…..and too the same Tory behaviour, SAME Tory disregard, SAME Tory plundering of our resources for their UK’s needs, SAME Tory rhetoric, SAME Tory British patriotic claptrap and thus find that we, in Scotland, are in the exact SAME position as we were when the ACTUAL Tories were in charge of the UK….
So where you put your ‘X’ in the next GE will determine whether you STILL want to be (over) ruled by Tories (of a different colour) or whether you would prefer REAL “Change” and progress thus your ‘X’ will be placed next to candidate from a independence party….preferably the SNP….that is if you DO want to tell all Pro UK parties that the (NON) Union is well past it’s sell by date…. indeed tis as a dysfunctional (right wing) state as ‘dead as a Dodo’….and thus surplus to requirement for Scots (new and old ) and that a ‘CHANGE is going to come’…..

It is notable that the media, in both Scotland and England always describe this as ‘the SNP’s transgender legislation’ ignoring the fact that it had support from MSPs of all five parties represented in the Scottish Parliament. Labour, Greens, Lib Dem’s were unanimous in their support. A large majority of SNP MSPs supported it, but a small number, the most high profile being the Minister, Ash Reagan, who resigned. Two Conservative MSPs supported the bill, but the majority opposed. The bill was passed by around 80% of MSPs after 6 years’ gestation.
Opposition in Scotland came mainly from two groups, who, in other respects, such as abortion, are hostile: feminists and religious groups. Within both of these wider groups many, probably a majority in the former group, support the legislation.

O/T Sorry John but I think this is important as I don’t see any benefit to Scotland.

One way or another, there has to be a means to get energy from where it is generated, to where it is used.
There’s not much point in ScotWind, if there’s nowhere for the generated energy to go. Norway doesn’t need it, I doubt Ireland does. So, whether we’re a de facto colony or independent, England is the market for Scottish renewable energy.

Taking more green energy without recompense. Scotland pays for it. Higher energy charges.
