Social media is alive with comparison of the BBC protection of its presenter, the MSM collusion with that, and the quick media exposure of the arrests of the First Minister and her husband.
Remember, Police Scotland did not publish the the names of those arrested, referring only to their age and gender. It was the Scottish media including the BBC which instantly revealed that it was the First Minister’s husband and then her.
A similar thing is now not happening in England as the BBC and all of the MSM conceal the name of the ‘accused.’
I agree they should not release the name of an accused, even if they have been arrested but the contrast between the behaviour of the Scottish and English media is stark,
However, for obvious reasons it’s not the best comparison.
The quick media exposure of the former SNP Minister, Derek Mackay, after he was found to have inappropriately texted a 16 year-old boy, is.
I won’t, can’t, get into the actual details of the two cases. It doesn’t matter. They are at least superficially similar .
In 2023, the BBC presenter who, it seems contacted a 17 year-old boy asking for posed photographs, has not yet been named, even by the Mail.
In 2020, the SNP minister who had, as I understand it, texted a 16 year-old boy only with positive comments about his appearance was instantly exposed, across the media.
At one extreme, the Herald, supposedly not a tabloid, had 11 different reports on him in one day, each with a photograph:
What can explain this shocking contrast?
I can think of two reasons:
- Corporate and state journalists ‘circle the wagons‘ to protect their own.
- Scottish journalists are well-trained to ‘get the SNP’ at any time.
Talking-up Scotland 
The foreign owned media operating in Scotland will never turn down the chance to attack the SNP/Scottish Government, yet turn blind eyes when it concerns anything to do with the westminster establishment.
Ask yourself why Andrew Rosindell maintains the party whip, his full salary, expenses & pensions contributions & has been reelected to fight his seat in the next GE, yet hasn’t been anywhere near Westminster for 14 months.
He isn’t ill either, btw.

I do hope these ‘journalists’ and their enablers understand that when Scotland DOES manage to break away they will very much be on the radar for payback.

The wife of Huw Edwards has said he is in hospital for the forseeablle time to recover from this ebc situation.
After the ‘It’s not me’ Spartacus revelations and Seven weeks of silence.
Poor Cliff got the same treatment as McKay along with many others that don’t elicit protection.

So HUW is the man in the news , he is married with five children , I think given his relationships with these men he is GAY.
His wife shopped him , then said he has gone into a mental institution for help , but we know being GAY is not a health issue and is not a mental health issue but I would think that pretending to be heterosexual for decades and having five children with your wife whilst being GAY then having your secret found out the way it has would certainly be very worrying so going to hospital keeping the journalists at bay is a good idea.
Quite correctly in my opinion the police have said he has not committed a crime but his wife and children might see it differently.

According to some of the early reports about the BBC presenter the BBC had been told about the allegations by the boy’s parents but it was 6 weeks or so before they approached the presenter who we now know is Hugh Edward’s.
Did the BBC delay so that he could cover the Coronation?

Your 2 reason are valid, but the first, and in particular the “protect their own” observation merits further consideration.
There has always been a London based ‘political/media bubble’, but as seen in recent times when Murdoch could essentially dictate who formed government, the ‘media’ have taken on a much more sinister form of collusion with politicians to dictate what is or is not news.
What is notable is when any of the ‘insiders’ steps out of line, they will be set up for public media assassination if they do not go quietly.
Edwards will have been aware of being distanced from the ‘bubble’, and knows full well how the game plays out – The setup to limit collateral damage, the scandal, the media feeding frenzy, then banishment.
What appears as “protect your own” is likely part of the setup, the whiff of conspiracy – The Tories have axes to grind with the BBC since losing their top man.
