From GB News yesterday:
Tory MSP Russell Findlay told the Daily Record: “It is madness to try and solve Scotland’s drug death crisis, the worst in Europe, by essentially legalising heroin, crack and other class-A drugs.
“This would put more drugs on our streets. It would put more lives at risk. What kind of message is the SNP sending to Scotland’s drug-ravaged communities?”
Likewise, Labour also condemned the proposals with Rachel Reeves, the shadow chancellor saying: “I do not think this sounds like a good policy.
“I find it quite stunning that this would be a priority for the Scottish Government”.

The evidence-base for the SNP Government is that in Portugal, decriminalisation 22 years ago has resulted in:
- Drug-related deaths have remained below the EU average since 2001
- The proportion of prisoners sentenced for drugs has fallen from 40% to 15%
- Rates of drug use have remained consistently below the EU average

Clear.

Dear , dear ! There you go again , John – using FACTs !
You’ll get nowhere with the Scottish media and the Unionist parties using tactics like that !
What you need to do is make a ”pledge”- Starmer -like , then immediately dis -own it , or be like the Tories and blame it all on the EU .
THAT’S how politics is done today .

Oh dear Russell Findlay’s roots at the Sun and Sunday Mail are showing in that he can’t distinguish between “legalising” and “decriminalising”.
Something has to change after years of Tory failure on drugs, they couldn’t even keep Gove out.
