BC Ferries is the nearest thing to CalMac in terms of size and the number of destinations they serve up and down the West coast of Canada. They serve 47 locations with 41 vessels in very similar weather conditions to those on the West coast of Scotland.
Calmac serves 50 locations with 31 vessels.
CalMac is obliged to report daily reliability data but BC Ferries is not.
CalMac is averaging 95.4% of sailings on time this Summer.

BC Ferries in 2020 (the most recent I can find) managed 90.2% on time.

This weekend, for Canada Day, BC Ferries plans to cancel 48 sailings.

BC Ferries has just cancelled its only link to the USA until 2030 due to repairs on vessels as old as 50 years.

The most recent CalMac sinking was in 1973 when no lives were lost and there was not a single injury.
Last week a Mull councillor described CalMac as one of the worst ferry companies in the world.

Her Dameness Jakie Baillie said, “This is pure bad. That Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, spoke to Nicola Sturgeon at COP26 and now we have a ferry fiasco in British Columbia. Humza Yousaf must resign now.”

You must be kidding re Cal Mac. I am a Cal Mac ferry passenger and it is a shambolic company. Please refer to any press article published in Scotland relating to Cal Mac. Your articles re Cal Mac are like a fairy tale

Nope. BEEB North Brit cannot see as far as Canada.
Over the sea to Skye is about it.
Or not, as the propaganda has it.
When SLaver get in, they will stick a “Dame Jakie” on the prow of every vessel.
Cut through the water quicker as the sea recoils in fear and dismay.
They will require extra ballast aft for a counterweight, and may in fact be too heavy to carry passengers.
BEEB North Brit will have a camera crew to follow Starwars around and record his every “important” mumble…….just like they used to do with Jack Ma’Coalbunker.

That Mull councillor must be challenged. if he refuses to retract he should be sued for defamation.

50 locations 30 ferries.
Average cancellation 5 out of 500. Better than North England railways.
4 new ferries on the way. To cope with extra tourism, since Covid. Save fuel.

Are you aware that under Scottish government targets for reduction in carbon dioxide emissions that the four ferries you mention will need to be retired before 2030, or rebuilt to stop burning diesel fuel.
Fuel saving ships were for the 1990s not the 2020s

They’re designed to be able to use two fuels :- diesel, and Liquified Natural Gas. They’ll be running on diesel at first because there is a Worldwide shortage of the special sensors needed for the LNG system

Overall statistics are pointless when what matters is how a customer interacts with the service.
Folk in South Uist have had 100% cancelation and 0% reliability for about 4 weeks with alternatives both taking much longer and being so limited that travel had to be delayed or often not undertaken at all.
Scotland has many better Ro-Ro ferry operators than CalMac. North Link and Pentland ferries who between them manage to keep traffic flowing to Orkney. There are also good services provided by Orkney and Shetland internal ferries.
I can’t actually think of a worse ferry operator in Scotland than CalMac even though all the others have problems from time to time non have let down the communities they serve as badly as CalMac has let down South Uist

Last time I looked there was a road link between North and South Uist and more than daily saings from Lochmaddy
