Islanders take South Uist ferry cancellation protest to Glasgow
The Lochboisdale to Mallaig/Oban ferry in South Uist has been off for days now.
There are only around 1 800 folk in all of South Uist, yet a few hundred clearly made it to Glasgow.
Did they drive the 42 miles to the other ferry in North Uist which was operating at 100% for its 3 daily crossings?
Is 42 miles too long.
Glasgow to Oban is nearly 100.
Are the folk above all islanders?
Does BBC Scotland wish to mention that CalMac ran 517 ferry sailings on time yesterday and had only 10 cancellations? They don’t.
Do communities in North Lanarkshire former mining villages have to help subsidise these relatively affluent islanders? They do.

Meanwhile, down on the Brodick – Ardrissan route, happy to report that the 0930 MV Alfred out of Brodick and my return, the 1520 MV Caledonian Ises out of Ardrossan, were both on time.

Aye, they’d rather that Islay is cut off for a month, and took another ferry to protest the point to the Scottish Government who aren’t marine mechanics….
Still, the BBC is simply reporting impartially, much as they did…

Query : Why are ”islanders ” protesting about lack of ferries by having a demo in Glasgow ?
Were they informed that the ferry from Glasgow to the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh was cancelled ? More BBC misinformation ?

Just a wee point of information : the Mallaig – Lochboisdale (South Uist) ferry service has had a very intermittent existence, only recommencing in 2013 after a brief interlude of ten years.
Re-deployment of vessels and cessation of service has been the norm on this route since it’s inception.

So why is the ferry not operating, who is the company running it? Why are folks protesting in Glasgow about S.Uist.
I’m guessing any issues with ferries in Scotland is nothing new, after all, Scotland’s transport infrastructure was massively neglected by Labour and under English rule.

All these ferry problems might have been saved if our Jack-ass had spent it on them instead of sending all the money back to London.

So 2 ferries being built during Covid, Problems, being dual fuel, different parts needed, or not needed, peoples jobs under threat, with Brexit movement of parts in question. What happened to 13 TYPE 26 FRIGATES 8 years LATE Costing how much,? 2 Aircraft Carriers at over £7.billion, Planes at £180 million each, how many?problems with actually being able to use them. What happened to Grayling,s Ferry company!? No ships, No crew! No Experience! Billions of FINANCE WENT WHERE!? OFFSHORE??? Has the Aircraft Carrier stopped going around the Isle of Wight. Three Coronations for Tory P.M,s and another farce coming to Scotland.
