We have concluded above that in deliberately misleading the House Mr Johnson
committed a serious contempt. The contempt was all the more serious because it was
committed by the Prime Minister, the most senior member of the government. There
is no precedent for a Prime Minister having been found to have deliberately misled
the House. He misled the House on an issue of the greatest importance to the House
and to the public, and did so repeatedly. He declined our invitation to reconsider his
assertions that what he said to the House was truthful. His defence to the allegation
that he misled was an ex post facto justification and no more than an artifice. He
misled the Committee in the presentation of his evidence.

Our final conclusion is in relation to sanction. Although Mr Johnson’s resignation
as an MP renders it impossible for a sanction of suspension to be imposed, we draw
attention to the fact that before the events of Friday 9 June we had provisionally
agreed to recommend a suspension long enough to engage the provisions of the
Recall of MPs Act. In the light of Mr Johnson’s further contempts, we put on
record that if he had not resigned his seat, we would have recommended that he be
suspended from the service of the House for 90 days for repeated contempts and for
seeking to undermine the parliamentary process, by:

  • Deliberately misleading the House
  • Deliberately misleading the Committee
  • Breaching confidence
  • Impugning the Committee and thereby undermining the democratic process of
    the House
  • Being complicit in the campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the
    Committee
    In view of the fact that Mr Johnson is no longer a Member, we recommend that he should
    not be granted a former Member’s pass. (Paragraph 229

  1. Yep, fan meets shit coming the other way…
    As segments of this report finally see the light of day, it’s not difficult to see why Johnson was so furious, particularly this….
    “In light of Johnson’s resignation as an MP, the committee has recommended that he should not be granted a former member’s pass – which would have allowed him limited access to Parliament, including for lunches and to see former colleagues.”

    The sanctions recommended in the report will have to be voted on by MPs, but it’s difficult to see how they can avoid them without being seen as party to the corruption….

  2. Perhaps we will have a presenter ofnGood Morning Scotland asking, with a chuckle in her voice, “Wasn’t this just Boris being Boris?” The implication being” ‘he is a card and a roguish one; he lies but that is what makes him fun and lovable.’

IMHO he should not only be stripped of every privilege bestowed on him as an MP and as a PM but also given the gravity of these ‘offences’ he should be prosecuted as a deterrent to others that follow in his footsteps. If some Scots still believe we should continue to be governed by these imbeciles in Westminster then I have pity on them and their sanity.

Too little too late , we have a new Boris in town by the name of Sunak , he lies also but in a different way , he doesn’t tell the truth by leaving important information out , important information he knows he should be telling us , the other thing he does is answer a question by telling you something completely unrelated to what you asked him.
    Sunak is just as bad as Boris but does it with a smirk on his face or a frown on his forehead depending on the type of lie he is telling.

    It’s all very jolly you know , britins boomin , yes boomin it is , we should all settle down and stop asking questions they say and just remember there’s another Boris or Sunak in the packet waiting to jump out and do the same at any time , Red or blue whatever you choose.

        In my opinion , omitting relevant information of importance is the same as telling lies.
        How do you figure that I am suggesting Cook and Campbell are different ?
        Cook and Campbell are worse because they’re Scottish , traitors are always worse than your enemy , once Scottish independence is secured we have to make sure we show these traitors that it doesn’t pay to be a traitor.
