We’re reported to, not for.

Reposted in TuS, from DruFastDruFurious today in r/Scotland:

Compare and contrast the media’s line and focus.

£600,000 of SNP members’ money goes missing = Leading figures arrested. Doctored images from 2017 claiming to show the old FM in a police car are splashed across front pages. This is truly the worst financial scandal in Scottish political history, so say the headlines

At least £10,000,000,000 of taxpayers’ money (maybe several times this) goes missing during Covid = The media moves on. No arrests are made. The chancellor at the time is later elected Prime Minister.

£100,000,000 on delayed ferries. Inefficient shipyard with contracts that drag on and on = This is an indictment of everything the Scottish Government stands for, so say the media and opposition.

£4,200,000,000 MOD contract drags on. Contractors sabotage the warship in Govan over backtracking on pay = The media moves on.

Why do you think this is, in a country where half the population wants to leave the UK?

Exactly.

  2. A £3billion aircraft carrier in dock at Rosyth being broken up to provide spare parts for another in Portsmouth that is getting maintained.

Cameron cancelled the contract for the F35s , the vertical landers, signed a contract for the conventional F35s, asked for the carriers to be fitted with catapults and trapping, too expensive, cancelled the F35 order and signed another for the vertical landers.

Now they are going to fit the carriers with catapults and trapping.

The Glen Sannox is undertaking trials.

    1. Say what? !!!!!
Having rejected the catapult system once.. you’re telling me they’re now going to install said catapults?
      Why would that be?
I have my own thoughts but would appreciate confirmation if you’re in a position to do so.

      1. The Ministry of Defence have confirmed that the Queen Elizabeth class carriers might be fitted with catapults ‘in the coming years’ in order to launch certain types of aircraft.

If it says might, a drone experiment is supposed to be under way.

    * This has been checked and double-checked by an independent ( don’t use that word in Scotland ! ) committee comprising Baillie , Gulhane and ACH(E) !
