Junior doctor strike only matters in Scotland

At last BBC Scotland has its first health worker strike after weeks and months of watching impotently as junior doctors, nurses and ambulance staff walked out across England. They’ve made it the big story of the day.

BBC England and UK have noticed but have not made it the headline story. The BBC England regions are not even reporting it at all.

BBC Scotland have fully politicised the report with this choice image of the Scottish Health Secretary and platforming of THREE opposition parties including farcically the smallest, FIFTH largest, party:

Scottish Conservative health spokesman Dr Sandesh Gulhane urged the government to “get back round the table” and find a solution to the dispute.

“Patients who are already suffering will be deeply alarmed at the impact looming strike action will have on waiting times which are already too high on the SNP’s watch,” he said.

Scottish Labour’s health spokesperson Jackie Baillie said the responsibility for the strikes “lies solely” with the health secretary.

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton said that talks with the BMA should be escalated to bring the dispute to “a swift conclusion”.

The complete lack of interest by their own UK parties in these strikes is not mentioned.

The BBC Health report posted by BBC UK and England has not one word by any opposition party representative.

  1. Westminster banned Russia TV from uk for less , BBC Scotland the ultimate propaganda machine .
Anyone got a list of names ?
Just so we know who they are when Scotland is independent.
Wouldn’t want collaborators to go on their way unnoticed

  2. The Westminster Tories cut NHS funding £20Billion from 2015 to 2020. They mismanaged the pandemic to concentrate on Brexit another catastrophe. Losing £Billions.

UK NHS funding £125Billion. UK Gov accounts 2019 to 2020. The Scottish Gov have to mitigate the cuts. £13Billion SNHS + social care.

The Tories have increased military spending £5Billion. Instead of increasing NHS £5Billion. Killing people rather than keeping them alive. Vote unionist to die younger.

Japan 85 years life expectancy. Spain 84 years. US 76 years. UK 76/79 years. Nearly 10 years less.

Westminster wasteful policies. The unionist parties are wasting £Billion which could be spent on better healthcare on better healthcare and essential service.

  3. Glad to note Disaster Gulhane has dialled back the nonsense of ‘highest in the UK’ to “too high on the SNP’s watch”, but quite where Hear, See and Speak no Evil imagine SG are to find the funds of course remains unclear – MSP expenses and pay-rises perhaps ?

Coming from Tory Gulhane however it is hypocrisy on stilts, with the Westminster Tories entirely to blame for this continuing farce.
I cannot recall where I saw the piece, but there was an economist on a political ‘show’ recently who totally demolished Jeremy Rhyming-Slang’s “But it will cause inflation” argument – Highlighting the differences between private and public sector pay awards and their effects on inflation, she concluded that restoring pay levels in the public sector would have almost zero impact.

Quite why victimisation/demonisation of the public sector is so deeply ingrained in Tory thinking has puzzled me since the time of Thatcher, but can only surmise this stance is popular with the monied classes who fund their mafia.

        1. It used to be if you posted more than one URL that it was flagged for moderation, hence I got into the habit of only posting one – In this case it was the archive of the HMS James Cook article.

I ended up trying 3 or 4 times, eventually figuring out the first para with the URL was causing the problem, hence what is posted excluded the first paragraph.

What made it strange was if I tried to repost the article, WordPress came up with the “comment already has been posted” or similar message, even though it evidently wasn’t.
If I left the site then and came back and reposted, it wouldn’t flag up as already posted, but it still wouldn’t appear, rinse repeat…

I’ll see if it’s a WP problem over at WGD at some point.

  4. The BBC viewership is extremely low. Support for Independence is increasing. The BBC goes down, along with the Tories. Independence support increasing. Not long now to a GE. The Scottish Gov mitigating the cuts to essential services etc.

The Police budget should be cut. They are wasting £Billions on malicious complaints. The unionist Masonics in play. The agents of the Crown trying to bring Scotland down. People can vote against it with a higher turnout.

Independence supporters need to go out and vote. Take another with them to the voting box. SNP, Alba and green should do it. To get around STV and D’Hond’t. Introduced without a mandate by unionists to muck up the voting system. The 3rd rate loser wins. A quota. An affront to Democracy. Undemocratic and unfair.
