Media coverage tends to concentrate on negative facts. For example, last Sunday (11 June 2023), on one of the busiest days for tourism this year, CalMac had 379 timetabled sailings with 98.9% on time.
Previous days? 96.7%, 96.3%, 99.2%……
This is not unusual but never reported.
You can check this daily at:

Ardrossan-Brodick crossing (above)? 100%, right across the weekend.
Brittany channel ferries? 83% today.

Yup.
Destroyers which cannot put to sea.
A huge aircraft carries now utilised for spare parts.
HMS Vanguard refit 4 years late.
HS2.
Ajax military vehicle–£billions sent for ne return.
Bulb energy —£2 billion down the tubes and the Chairman still got his bonus!
Crossrail.
Hinckley Point. What IS the point?
Refurbishment of Westminster–will equal the cost of Trident renewal.
See any of this on BBC Repressing Scotland ???
They seem to have brought in wee Wallace-Lockhart to “report” on the SNP.
Desperate times for this failing North Brit State broadcaster!

When you let another country control your money your media your nationality and most everything else this is what you get England gains hugely from controlling this island and in particular it gains hugely from Scotland a country almost the same size of land with massive oil gas wind wave agricultural and seafood resources and a small population that’s easy to immerse in Englishness and English people .
But , Scottish people are strong they can erase our written records of our past but they can’t erase our memories , furthermore they can’t erase the inbuilt DNA Scottishness of our children and our children’s children.

Scotland’s tourism is going to be choca bloc this summer, who’d want to wait in massive long queues at Dover or Calais when you can just drive a few 100 miles to the next door country, (dump your rubbish) use their infrastructure and new bridges/rail etc for eg, which if the English gov and their lackeys in Scotland had their way would not exist, and, have the benefit to stay at and see amazing countryside, lots of gorgeous mountains, lochs, islands, castles and wildlife. Imagine if Scotland was independent and rejoined the EU. We can but hope.

And imagine how many more tourists would visit S. Uist if the media told people that they can get their by ferry from Oban instead of going on endlessly about the Mallaig route thus giving the impression it is the only route.
If you are going from the Central Belt or coming from England then Oban is the better option. That is the route we took when we visited S. Uist a few years ago. Mallaig is a bit of a trauchle for the big centres of population.

Winter only?

We went in June a few years ago (2012?) but the service now seems to be Oban to Castlebay on Barra. A bit more awkward because you need to take a ferry to get onto Eriskay then road/causeway to S. Uist.
