SNP policies prevent thousands of abortions.

BBC Scotland is reporting today:

A record number of abortions in Scotland last year may have been driven by cost of living worries, a charity has said. Figures released by Public Health Scotland showed there were 16,584 terminations in 2022, a 19% increase.

The 2022 abortion rate for England & Wales will not be published by the ONS until January 2024, but in 2021 there were 214,256 cases.

In Scotland in 2021, the figure was 13 758.

With 11 times the population and all other things being equal, you might expect England & Wales to have around 151 000 cases but had, in fact, 214 256, 42% more.

So, had Scotland’s pregnant mums had been obliged to live in England or Wales, there might have been 5 000 more abortions.

This is a significant difference that requires explanation.

Obvious contributing factors are lower levels of poverty and child poverty in Scotland, more affordable housing, lower crime rates and far more midwives and home visitors.

  1. Baby boxes, nursery places, kinship payments, school meals, £25 child payment, students places, grants and loans, additional foster payments,for education, nil council tax.

    Women who co habit do not have equal rights. They have to stay in abusive unsafe places. They do not get legal aid, They have to put in a claim within a year. Or lose the roof over their head. It can cost £thousands. Rental agencies illegally charge women six months rent and upfront deposits. Women do not have equal rights. Unjust and unfair.

  2. Scotland does have a more elderly population and needs more people. Westminster policies have depopulated Scotland for years. The Clearances, the wars (caused by the Royals. The divine right to rule). The migration people in Scotland had to leave for a better life. US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada etc. The revenues and resources flowing south. Oil & Gas etc. Kept secret under the Official Secrets Act. Westminster corruption and inequality. The UK the most unequal place in the world. Tax evasion, illegal wars and financial fraud. Tax cuts for the wealthy, welfare cuts for those in need. Elderly poverty. The low Gov OAP.ension.
