The part which wants the Royals the least is given them the most by BBC Scotland

BBC Scotland with 7 positive Royals stories including the headline report.

Why is this interesting?

ONLY around one-third of people in Scotland support the monarchy, by far the lowest of the nations of the United Kingdom, a new poll has found.

The research, conducted for ITV News, found that Wales has the strongest support for the royals in the UK, with 56% of people backing the monarchy.

But in Scotland that support is 19 points lower. North of the Border, just 37% of adults said they support the monarchy.

In England, those who back the royals are in the majority (54%), while they are a slim minority in Northern Ireland (47%).https://www.thenational.scot/news/23495047.scottish-support-royals-much-lower-rest-uk-poll-finds/

Why is this happening?

Some think there is a conspiracy at BBC Scotland to propagandise against the SNP. I’d say it’s more a culture where everyone now almost instinctively knows what to report and how to report it, in a manner which serves their own interests within the organisation and at the same time, the interests of the Union ahead of those of Scots.

Note how N Ireland, also with majority opposition to the monarchy does not get the same coverage as Scotland.

In February 2022, when the Queen died it was the same story:

Disloyal Scotland gets Queen booster from BBC

Game of Thrones-like story headlines the BBC Scotland and England websites but does not feature at all in those for Wales or Northern Ireland.

There’s a decision behind this, operating perhaps at a sub-conscious level. A Scottish editor just knowing it was the ‘right thing to do.’ Welsh and Irish editors just knowing it wasn’t.

Ironically or perhaps predictably, the decision to promote the monarchy in Scotland is against the background of it being the only part of the UK with a majority for abolition, 52% to 28%, compared to a UK average of only 29% to 50% for retention: https://www.jlpartners.co.uk/polling-results

In April 2021, when Prince Phillip died? The same again:

BBC Scotland giving republicans what they ‘need’

The day after the funeral and the BBC Scotland website is still full of Duke. In opinion polls, Scotland reports lower levels of support for the monarchy than others in the DUK.

FFS explains: How popular is the monarchy?

After recent reports of nationalist infiltration there, you won’t be surprised to see that BBC Wales has ‘moved on’ with not one Duke story:

Northern Ireland, still loyal, surely:

Nope. Starting to feel rejected?

England! Surely? He lived among them:

Meh?

Come on you Jocks, let’s have a little love for your betters.

  1. Who can forget Marr’s interview when his unconscious bias was highlighted by Chomsky – If he didn’t have the right bias he simply wouldn’t be there.
What was once a “word in your ear” from the men in grey on “a matter of interest”, has now become sophisticated news management where every nuance is calculated to “nudge” in a particular direction.

I’ve considerable doubt surveys tell you much on public opinion over the monarchy, rather than per the Marr example, their views are an institutionalised bias which they believe correct or “normal”…

  2. Personally, I don’t watch B.B.C News, so I have to rely on this, and other Independence minded sites, to see what is being reported.
Isn’t it a possibility that the overkill by B.B.C Scotland is having the opposite effect to the one they intended?
That the saturation coverage is in fact damaging the Monarchy, with their sickening display of privilege and wealth. In fact, oor wealth, as they have been robbing us for centuries.
While real people are struggling to survive thirteen years of Tory misrule, the Covid pandemic, and now an entirely avoidable food and energy crisis, and certainly in the case of the last mentioned, so rich people can get even richer. The absolute obscenity of those who rule over us flaunting their riches, and power. Just look at the actions of the Met. Police, and I’m a former cop, arresting entirely innocent protesters, so this cretin, and his floozy, can be crooned.
Sorry for the rant, but frankly the whole event, as you can probably tell, disgusts me.

  3. I feel sure there are wider forces at play here and the BBC is an integral part of that ‘levelling up’ mechanism hence the difference in saturation levels in Scotland . There is a built-in ‘tolerance’ that allows societal shifts left and right but beyond that ‘righting the ship’ triggers kicks in and which I guess is why they see the SNP and the Independence movement as perceived ‘extremisim’ and a major threat to the status quo. They possibly feel it is their national duty to interfere when required.

  4. When Elon Musk asserted that the BBC was a “State broadcaster” he must have been referring to BBC Scotland.

Not so much a State broadcaster as a State propagandist.

Mr Carson and his wife both born and brought up in Belfast her dad was Garda look at their history it’s got Protestant Belfast unionist written all over it in a tv family with political interests she was at one time going to go for President of the south , tory unionists I’d say ,both with a long background in BBC perfect education for the divide the side of the Northern Ireland type walking the line poking the other side which is what he is here for, he is here to poke Scottish independence and advance unionism it’s no accident it’s no natural competitive job application event it’s a purely political appointment by an anti Scottish anti Scottish independence pro unionist English BBC currently controlled by Conservative Party government in Westminster .I’m sure if we looked closely enough there will follow up signings within their eight children it would be very surprising if a few were not already on the BBC books even the four from her previous marriage .

    1. I think the term Wes used was “imploding”, you wonder where they get this rubbish from and then I remembered BBC Scotland 🙂

As to their Royal fawning, well in my opinion its just self delusional gibberish from a branch office of the State Broadcaster nothing more.
