I can see no hard evidence of a further surge at the moment, in published data, but I’d be surprised if it isn’t there when we get the 2022/2023 data later in the year.
Recent reports of a surge in hate crimes against the transgender community are largely based on the figures for 2021-2022 , preceding the worst of the media/Tory feeding frenzy we’ve seen in the last few months.
Will it have been worth it in anyway?
Well, if you’re kind of human, clearly not, but if your deepest desire is to weaken the SNP and the FM, regardless of the costs for others, then maybe the latest Lord Ashcroft poll in the now wholly Unionist-terf Holyrood mag, is evidence it’s working.
The report argues that the data reveal a gulf between Scottish Government and voters, on independence and gender reforms. I don’t, but I do know that, like a turd, all things pass. Watch the polls as the months pass and stay calm. By the next election, SNP waverers will be home. Where else would they go?
Talking-up Scotland 
I didn’t realise Brianna was trans until today and, as well as being saddened by the pointless and brutal death of a young girl, I note the recent furore over the GRA has disappeared. Maybe like the Suella Braverman rhetoric being seen as contributing to the awful scenes in Liverpool, those stirring up trans issues (including the BBC) have realised their widely voiced opinions may also have contributed to this sad death

The greater tragedy is that a 16 year old was stabbed to death in a Cheshire village park – That “Brianna was a transgender girl but detectives have said there is no evidence to suggest her killing was a hate crime” is irrelevant unless attempting to mislead https://archive.ph/HQ4J3
What is also pertinent is this tragedy being paraded on the BBC/UK webpage in prime promotion spot for hours, is James Cook desperately retaining his self-penned “Nicola Sturgeon’s gender conundrum: Is Isla Bryson a man or a woman?” nonsense on the BBC/Scotland/Politics webpage alongside the nudge unit of the State of a Secretary for Flouce’s parallel nonsense of “Trans prisoner policy change after Isla Bryson row” https://archive.ph/i1Rvh.
Just as the Scotland Office and HMS James Cook’s propaganda without doubt created Isla Bryson, both were indirectly responsible for Brianna Ghey’s murder – Propaganda games have victims James – Buy a new shiny suit and forget about it eh ? Alister, shoot a few peasants.

From those who know better than me on the Polling questions and they way they are put. This Ashcroft Poll and its questions seemed to have been designed to give the answer that was wanted. If that is the case then there is not too much value to be put on it’s results.
However, just like a turd, the usual media flies cannot get enough of it.
