Less than one in a thousand Scots actually worry about the gender recognition reforms

‘Protest in Parliament’

A Panelbase poll for WoS/Times on 9 December 2022, reported 51% agreeing with the statement: ‘The Scottish Government’s plans to change the Scottish law on gender recognition would pose a safety risk to women only spaces.’

Why do SNP voters hate women?

So, a leading question in a poll carried out for a campaigner utterly opposed to anything the SNP does these days, then taken to mean something it does not necessarily mean, that those 51% are particularly opposed to the change.

The poll might have more effectively asked the question directly and used a scale (Likert) to measure strength of opposition. Panelbase staff know this and so presumably WoS did not want it or has not published it.

But in a poll of 1 065 Scots over 16, only 1, a woman in the 55-64 age group, chose Gender recognition reforms as the most important issue facing Scotland today

The poll data tables, for STV by Ipsos MORI on 5 December can be accessed here:

  2. I have no doubt some are uncomfortable with the GRA amendments, but let’s be very clear, nowhere else in the world has had this issue thrust in people’s faces at every conceivable juncture as it has been in Scotland via blogs and in the MSM – ABSOLUTELY NONE.

I’m convinced that when Westminster shelved the Amendments but SG said they would proceed with it, it set in motion a propaganda campaign which sought to sow and exploit divided opinion, the Torches and Pitchforks gambit in all it’s glory.

eg – As commented over on WGD, the https://archive.ph/QE6jT piece from the BBC in Scotland was in prime slot on the UK webpage and both Scotland and Scotland/Politics pages at purportedly 14 minutes old, lord knows how many version had preceded this archived one, but at the time of writing it was ca 3 hours old.

The same situation prevailed early doors here but the the article had been passed through Pacific Quay’s Tardis again to appear as 28 minutes old, despite now being a 16 hour old article.

It is still in prime spot on Scotland/Politics, everywhere else got the BBC “UK” follow up piece “Scotland gender reforms: UK ministers may block law” which also has been time-shifting – They have their own Tardis ?

With the Times and WoS now joining in what to me is orchestrated propaganda, it looks set to run and run….

  3. Deja-vu:
Supreme Court ruled UN Convention on Rights of Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill was unlawful because exceeded devolved powers. FM said it left her unable to fully protect children’s rights She is still to bring back an amended bill.
