Army to add only 1% to vaccination rollout and only on BBC Scotland

Headlining all over BBC Scotland but not in BBC UK, Wales or Northern Ireland, today:

In Scotland, 63 personnel will be split across NHS Lothian and NHS Lanarkshire with vaccinators, health professionals and command-and-control managers providing support.

63 and not all actually jagging? There were 5 500 vaccinators in Scotland in January 2021 so those 60 or less army vaccinators make up?

1.09%, that’ll make all the difference!

Let me know if you spot one of these rare birds.

  1. In Scotland, 63 personnel will be split across NHS Lothian and NHS Lanarkshire with vaccinators, health professionals and command-and-control managers providing support.

    Looks better written like this:
In Scotland, 63 personnel will be split across NHS Lothian and NHS Lanarkshire to provide support to vaccinators and health professionals.

  2. I have a friend involved in Glasgow life. I am told the army was often asked to go away and have a smoke/coffee as they just got in the way.

When Boris, or it might have been Gove, came to Glasgow, the already completed vax stations had to be partially dismantled, so as to show the army “installing” them for the cameras.
Those from the media MUST have been aware of this.

  3. The Army are deployed at the SG’s request, no problem at all with that, it is the deliberate propagandising of it by whatever the Union Unit is called now and the classic HMS Sarah Smith implication game which irritates.

Post a historical photo of an army medic, kick the propaganda off with an entirely false “It is part of the UK government’s response to “variants of concern” spreading throughout the country”, add a sprinkling of quotes from UK Ministers and Officials and voila, the false narrative.

If I recall correctly an the earlier PQ attempt at “British Army ride to the rescue of incompetent SG” pastiche, one of the commenters who appeared to have inside knowledge, revealed the RMC in Scotland had less than 20 medically qualified personnel in total so your %age is generous to a fault even if we presume there are none retained for the inevitable squaddie who does something stupid.

The Army probably roll their eyes at these propaganda antics as much as the public, but have to remain schtum.

    1. I would not want anyone giving a vaccine to me or my family who is not experienced or fully medically trained, if they put the jag in the wrong part of the arm, it can trigger life threatening clots, because it needs to go into the muscle NOT a vein, and, of course against good practice imo, they don’t ‘aspirate’ in most countries (I think Denmark do so) so if they are not experienced could make that error. No thanks.
Ps I watched Dr. John Campbell’s videos on this a while back on Ytube.

      1. Let’s be very clear here Hetty, the Army are assisting not vaccinating, what HMS Sarah Smith and the Secretary of Mince for Scotland have been, are, and will continue to attempt to portray is SG and SNHS forever on the cusp of complete failure as a public service message, viz propaganda.

      2. My apologies Hetty, my understanding was completely wrong, the SG statement of 4th June says “A total of 63 military personnel – including 54 vaccinators – will support the 10,600 vaccinators currently engaged in delivering Scotland’s national vaccination programme”
