Alister Jack lies about care home deaths again and again and ….

At the Scottish Affairs Committee on 17th September, Alister Kerr repeated:

They’ve presented the case that they were doing a far better job with the virus. That’s despite much higher care home deaths. They claimed there was a prevalence five times higher in England…

He just says what he likes. His research assistants must know these are lies.

From research published by the University of Stirling in August:

Care homes in England experienced the highest increase in excess deaths at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic compared to those in the rest of the UK, according to new research. A study – co-ordinated from the University of Stirling’s Management School – found that care homes in England recorded a 79 percent increase in excess deaths, compared to 66 percent in Wales, 62 percent in Scotland and 46 percent in Northern Ireland.

As for infection rates, back then it was true but the stats guys complained about using unpublished data – yawn.

Anyhow, now it’s at least three times higher and getting higher every day. I have no proof because it’s not being reliably counted in England.

  1. Care homes in England are once more being pressured to take elderly patients from hospital who are Covid-19 positive. This report from Ch4 news on 17th Sept.

In the report it is stated that the Scottish guidelines for accepting patients from hospitals into care homes are different – patients must have tested negative twice whereas in England they can be transferred even if positive.

They, the UK Gov and some doctors, have not learned anything.

  2. And now this – NHS trusts in England have to pay for tests for staff and patients
From the Guardian online this afternoon
“”NHS hospitals in England face paying for Covid-19 tests for patients and staff out of their own budgets after a cap was placed on the amount of money available for tests in the health service, according to information sent to trusts.

    PA Media reports:

“”The guidance, first reported by the Independent, makes clear that NHS providers will need formal approval from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and its test and trace service, or they will not be able to claim back costs, which will be funded on a “capped actuals basis” and have a “maximum budget”.

“”The document was reportedly sent on Friday – a day after the NHS test and trace boss, Baroness Dido Harding, told MPs demand was up to four times more than tests available and the prime minister, Boris Johnson, warned a second wave had arrived in the UK.””””

  3. The secretary for the English government in Scotland is a disgrace, lying to the people of Scotland. Care home deaths in Scotland were much more than should have been and all because the EngGov in London dragged their feet in implementing serious measures to ensure that the spread of this dreadful virus was minimised at the very start. Utterly criminal.
Alistir Jack is paid a massive amount of public money to attempt to deceive the people of Scotland while covering for his masters in London.
Another rogue, the parcel is getting quite full though by now!

  4. Having listened to this committee evidence taking session there is no doubt in my mind that Jack sees himself as Westminster’s man in Scotland rather than Scotland’s voice in Westminster.
Colonialism is alive and well in modern British politics.
He is a disgrace to his country…… but then, he sees his country not as Scotland but as the UK with us being but a vassal region.
