Will Covid-19 be Britain’s Chernobyl?

By Brenda Steele:

I find this paragraph from Hardeep Mathura’s ‘Britain’s Chernobyl, Covid-19 & the Cost of Lies’ very interesting indeed:

The explosion did not just destroy a nuclear reactor but the Soviet Union itself. Independence movements – particularly in Ukraine and Belarus, the two most affected regions – found life in its wake and the empire fell five years later. In 2006, Mikhail Gorbachev, on whose watch the disaster unfolded, said that “the nuclear meltdown at Chernobyl… even more than my launch of Perestroika, was perhaps the real cause of the collapse of the Soviet Union”.

Transposing the concept to the UK today:

The death toll  did not just destroy the NHS  but the United Kingdom itself. Independence movements – particularly in Scotland  and Ireland, the two most affected regions – found life in its wake and the empire fell five years later  In 2025, Boris Johnson, on whose watch the disaster unfolded, said that “the massive death toll of Covid-19 … even more than my launch of Brexit, was perhaps the real cause of the collapse of the United Kingdom”.

  1. Well put, Brenda. I think quite a few of us have been getting pelters from SNP members unhappy that Nicola Sturgeon has – as one put it on Sunday – ‘given up on independence.’ I doubt if that’s the case, but this may reassure a few people that the pandemic may go on, but other things are happening in the background and may just lead to the result we want.

  2. Most momentous rapid changes are solely based on the principle of Cause & Effect
I.E.no cause can ever arise that does not have a effect no matter how long that takes
And no effect can ever arise that did not have a cause and sometimes that is in a nano second E.G. A unexploded land mine being stood upon
But in the case of Indy the final effect has multiple stages
One may use The sinking of the Titanic as a good example and in main you can use a simple formula
    A+B+C =D ( disaster )
    In the Titanic case
A= Titanic receiving icebergs warning + more or less ignores
B = Owner who is on board encourages Captain to go Full Steam Ahead seeking to dock in N.York ahead of schedule ( once more greed at work )
    C. There were no binoculars in the crows nest (meant to be ) a very minor but castrophic error ) if they were there the ice berg would have been spotted with plenty time to enable the ship to avoid impact
D Disaster although only a glancing blow with the ice berg,it was FATAL
There are many other factors at play
But if you remove any of factors A,B or C
    Then no Disater
In the case of Independence D for the union may just prove that this tiny little virus that represents disaster for their precious union
Factors A + B all well and truly in place
Cause & effect principles are a central plank of Buddhist philosophy and that is why Mindfulness is critical at all times when you conduct your affairs
Quite simply Westminster have been arrogant & conceit full in most of their dealings with Scotland
Which without doubt they have NOT been MINDFUL
So too late now the cause is a past event
And we merely await the effect all just as the crew and passengers awaited their fate
The most USELESS thing in life is Time left behind you
Those running Westminster indeed & despite their unshakeable beliefs HAVE NOT RCVD. A GOOD EDUCATION
    money cannot buy wisdom
It can only be obtained by practice of correct thoughts and action
So it is Bye from me till next time
