Poll suggests overwhelming support for Scotland’s ‘Stay in the Hoose!’ strategy

From Ipsos MORI on 8th -11th May with a sub-sample of 96, 18-75 year-old Scots:

The government should prioritise the economic health of the country by having fewer restrictions on public events, workplaces and travel

Only 9% agreed, the lowest percentage in the UK but, crucially for the UK Government’s new ‘strategy’, only 15% at most agreed, across the UK.

Interestingly, in the light of the UK Government’s own class make-up, 14% of social grades AB, across the UK, agreed, compared to only around 10% for the C-DE groups, most at risk.

The government should prioritise people’s health by having more restrictions on public events, workplaces and travel

55% of the Scots agreed with only Wales higher at 61% and, again for the UK Government, at least 50% agreeing across the UK. There was no significant variation across the social grades.

  1. The rain is forecast, so it must be the summer,
Our colonial meeja whine, “the lockdowns a bummer”,
But I’ll stay where I am, and I’ll stand firm my ground.
‘Cause I’ve food in the fridge, enough booze to go round,
My sweethearts here wi’ me, so I’ve got me a “lumber”!
And I cant spend my dosh, so I’ve saved loads of pounds.

Mcgonagalls my hero—how did you guess?

      1. When I’m out of line, my wife’s got my number,
I might close my eyes, but I dare not slumber,
She loves me a lot, but that wont encumber,
What she does next, with that giant cucumber.

If that comes to pass, then send for a plumber!
