As Neil Findlay sickens us with the implication that the FM does not care, infection and death rates both fall

Many of you will have seen Findlay’s dishonest and sickening comments yesterday. If you haven’t you may want to see them here:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-scotland-52493193

In the last 7 days the average number of new cases, each day, has been 122 whereas in the previous 7 days it was 144.

For the second week now, deaths in care homes fell. In the last week they fell from 339 to 310.

  1. I noticed last night on Reporting Scotland when they were covering this item they showed Mr Findlay standing up asking the question but there was no sound. The reporter talked over him. Thus the BBC stopped people hearing the disgusting way in which he framed the question and in so doing the BBC protected him from what would be very justified criticism of his foul behaviour.

    1. Clearly, the unionist parties in Scotland have dropped any pretence of supporting the SG in a time of crisis as they were doing at the start of the lockdown. However, probably as a result of the strong performance by the First Minister and Ms Jeanne Freeman, which is receiving plaudits south of the border, the anti-independence rhetoric has been ramping up steadily throughout the UK. Mr Findlay is getting a platform for his mendacious views in the Morning Star, whose Scotland correspondent produces articles that would not be out of place in the Daily Mail, Express, Sun, etc.

When Mr Starmer was asked on Good Morning Scotland whether he felt it was reasonable for Scotland to deviate from the UK wide approach to the Covid-19 crisis he gave the straight unionist response which is a rephrasing of “Better Together”. Mr Ed Davey of the LibDems gave the same “UK wide is best” line. Yet, both were demanding SNP support to have Brexit deferred.

  2. Any reduction in the number of people dying from Covid-19 can only be due to the virus running out of hosts. This may be because people are assiduously adhering to the Scottish Government’s advice. Or it could be because the people are dead.

When the extinction-level pandemic arrives its impact will be bound to tail off as the pathogen starves itself of hosts. I’d love to be there to witness somebody trying to put a positive spin on this.

Of course, this isn’t an extinction-level pandemic… yet! At the moment, I’m watching Boris Johnson’s regime of reprobates trying to make it one.
