Is the number of new cases flattening out?

Though the number of deaths shows no sign of slowing, the number of new cases leading to hospitalisation seems to be flattening out. After peaking at 430 four days ago, the number has stayed below that since then.

Too early to be sure but perhaps evidence that social distancing is beginning to work and something to hope for.

  1. Maybe the flattening rate of admissions while deaths continue to rise simply indicates that elderly folk with symptoms are not being admitted to hospitals?

  2. Before project Lockdown can be wound up I think rigorous testing has to be put in place.
Those who have been infected but recovered.
    Those who are presently infected.
    Those who are carriers.
Without that,we cannot allow freedom of movement.

  3. Seems like the UK’s man in Scotland (Alister Jack) can’t help himself in trying ti ignore/do down Scotland: Article about a drive-through testing facility to open in Glasgow airport’s long stay car park. AJ states this is part of a UK government plan. And there was me thinking the NHS and health matters was a devolved matter…
“Glasgow Airport has the space and infrastructure capable of accommodating a large-scale testing area and we are only too happy to support in this way,” said the airport’s managing director Mark Johnston.

Alister Jack, Secretary of State for Scotland added: “This is part of the UK government’s plan to vastly expand our testing capacity as we continue to work around the clock and across the country to protect the vulnerable, support the NHS, and save lives.”

    1. BBC Radio Scotland.
9am News :- reported the facility as UK funded
10am News:- reported facility no mention of who funded.

AJ could and probably will claim that every public project in Scotland is UK funded.
