Labour speech writer desperate for SNP decline faces disappointment

Apparently award-winning journalist with the Scotsman and former PR woman with the Scottish Labour Branch, Davidson is presumably responsible for some of the howlers we’ve heard from them over the last few years.

Today, she joins the ranks of those praying that the errors of a few individual SNP politicians will somehow convert into lost votes. She is in fine company – Brian Brexit Monteith, Brian Bad Vibrations Wilson, John Tory Councillor MacLennan and Mark I Know Some Teachers Smith, but like them she is certain to be disappointed.

History tells us so.

After the Derek Mackay scandal had fully saturated the media, the Opinium survey on 12th February 2020, didn’t have a Scottish breakdown but had support as a share of the overall UK-wide survey at 6% up from 5% in their last poll on 10th December 2019.

Back in January 2018, Paul Hutcheon felt sure that this time the SNP was for it:

The next poll was clear. The SNP support was increasing:

To be fair, Davidson probably doesn’t believe what she writes either. It’s just click-bait and, for me, the opportunity to ‘shoot fish in a barrel.’

  1. Yea Gods – whatever next? Swinson’s after Wee Willie’s seat and job! Please, please and pretty please is all that I can say!! Link and snippet below:

JO SWINSON could be set to make a dramatic return to frontline politics with reports that the failed LibDem leader is heading to Holyrood to replace Willie Rennie.

According to the Press and Journal, the North East Fife MSP is “keen” to see a fresh face take over in 2021.

(Presumably Rennie being punted out due to his over-zealous application of whitewash re. the ‘Sir’ Cyril Smith scandal?).

    1. These clowns don’t just fade away. Wee Wullie “winkie” will either be heading for the Lords with his chum Ruthie or….. he will have a plum boss of a charity job lined up (no qualifications, experience, competence required).

Cannot see La Swinson ever coming back to Scotland. She lives in London, her family is in London, her accent is more East-enders than Glasgow these days.
The Fifers I know wouldnt just vote in and interlouper, would they? Even one endorsed by Donalda and the team.

  2. Further to the rumours of Rennie’s potential departure following Baron Steel/’Sir’ Cyril Smith whitewash scandal and his being replaced by Joe Swinson CBE (?soon for peerage) – worth reminding oorsels that wee Willie Rennie (former Scotland Office SPAD) actually pretends a rather more jaundiced view of Swinson and her record. Willie Rennie: Jo Swinson backed Tory welfare policies that ‘should never have happened’
By Tom Gordon Scottish Political Editor

JO Swinson voted for Tory welfare policies that “should never have happened” when she was a minister in the Coalition, Willie Rennie has admitted.

The Scottish Liberal Democrat leader said he personally regretted the “bedroom tax” and other welfare changes introduced between 2010 and 2015.

(Rennie claims he “..personally regretted the ‘bedroom tax’ and other welfare changes introduced between 2010 and 2015” – conveniently forgetting his role as Westminster Scotland Office special advisor (spad) between 2010 and his election as a list MSP in 2011 – following which his job was to be ‘cheerleader in chief’ for the Westminster tory/lib dem coalition).

  3. They all do it for the money
Some people will not betray their country , their neighbours , their friends , for money
But some will, especially if they can make a quick escape to a bigger house somewhere else
They all tend to congregate in the same areas
Many of them live in the same Street
Their children go to the same school
But over time when the benefits of the extra pay wears off and doesn’t excite the way it used to
things like morals , trust , loyalty start to fill their minds and they realise they don’t have these values

Recovering them is nigh impossible once you dispose of them
And they end up living a solitary sad existence devoid of neighbourly interaction
    Nobody trusts them

    What a way to go
    Britnats everywhere suffer this debilitation
