Another good reason for Scottish independence is to become more democratic

The full article in Open Democracy on 19th February, from which this comes, makes no specific reference to the UK, presumably accepting, uncritically, it’s high rating, but one commentator, ‘BC’, wrote below:

‘It’s very difficult to take these conclusions seriously. That the UK with its monarchy, unelected second chamber, first past the post electoral system and market fundamentalist economy to be considered a full democracy is bad enough.’

They are spot on and highlight the strong attraction for us to become more thoroughly democratic, and get the ‘elite’ dark green shading like our neighbours in Scandinavia and Ireland.
