BBC Scotland breaks rules to ‘do the ton’ and allow police to overtake one of Scotland’s greatest

Whoooosh! The sound of real news going over Pacific Quay.

It’s been a day for appalling headline writing and this is another as well as a clear error in prioritising as one of the greatest artists in all of Scottish or British history, equalled only by William Blake two hundred years ago, is remembered by the state broadcaster as just a ‘Scottish author’ to be listed down the page. Earlier today the news of his death was less newsworthy than a made-up scare story about attacks on teachers. Now it’s less newsworthy than another made-up scare story about speeding police officers.

In a frankly pathetic and, of course, mathematically unsound manner, they’ve added up the figures for four years to get to 96 cases of police speeding and then make a leap to say ‘Almost 100’ in the headline. This might be one of the saddest examples I’ve seen.

Equally pathetic, they’ve hidden until late in the online report, the actual, essentially good, news here:

Neil Greig, from motoring campaign organisation, IAM Roadsmart, said the numbers were a good sign the force were [sic] taking the issue seriously. He said: “The public are rightly concerned about incidents of police officers speeding when on duty as they expect the highest standards of behaviour from those who enforce our motoring laws. “It is reassuring to see how seriously Police Scotland take this and the numbers being caught are a strong reflection of that.

  1. Sad? Sad? These BEEB clowns are beyond “sad”. They are contemptible in the extreme.

And as usual………contemptuous of us, who pay for this rubbish.

If Boris comes for their licence fee, they need not look to Scotland for succour.
