The UK’s largest PR trade body, the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA), has criticised Ms Davidson’s appointment. PRCA director general Francis Ingham said: “It is simply wrong for lobbying agencies to employ legislators. “The possible conflict of interest in doing so is clear, and damages the reputation of both our industry, and of the political process.”

As well as neglecting to mention the senior tory party role that her new boss has recently held (on a long-term basis) the beeb Scotland website article managed also to neglect to mention The Colonel’s lobby firm salary would be £50,000 for 24 days p.a. (£2,000+ per diem – not a bad daily rate, is it?). Oddly enough, I heard the £50,000 p.a. figure mentioned on GMS this morning – but it didn’t make it to the website – curious editorialising.

The beeb Scotland coverage gets ever more hapless. The update article (finally) mentions the £50,000 payment for 25 days per annum with the lobbying outfit but STILL no mention of the very recent and long-term senior tory party role held by her new boss.
Hopeless? Hapless? or deliberately shielding an ex-beeb person? – What do Pacific Quay execs expect the thinking element of the news reading public (ie one heck of a lot of Scottish resident ‘men and women in the street’) to make of their reportage? – and they wonder why trust has ebbed so seriously?

The Herod has headlined an anti Davidson story this morning. On the BBC Scotland site, the newspapers section includes the front pages of papers which have ant-Davidson headings. A while back, such papers would have been omitted.
Are some journalists finally trying to be ‘objective’, having been exposed so regularly by sites like this?
Of course GMS continues to fly the union flag, with a question by Gillian Marles to Ian Blackford starting, “He’s (i.e. Mr Boris Johnson) right, isn’t he …..? Now, I know that it is not uncommon to put counterviews to interviewees, but, there are also ways in which this can be done, such as tone of voice, emphasis, context of previous questions, interruptions, etc.
