Will Dame Jackie Baillie call for probe into her UK Labour government’s plans to spy on millions of the poor and hungry and Labour MPS putting cameras in toilets?

Professor John Robertson OBA Leaping gleefully onto the allegations that 3 MSPs and ministers were spied on by SNP parliamentary staff, Dame Jackie Baillie has called for a probe. She shows little sign of wanting to probe Labour MSPs with paedophile pals or Labour councillors who are paedophiles. So that we don’t think she is being a bit of a hypocrite will she also call for a probe into her own party’s plans to spy on millions of poor folk to make sure they really are poor, ie little in their bank accounts, with this: The Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) … Continue reading Will Dame Jackie Baillie call for probe into her UK Labour government’s plans to spy on millions of the poor and hungry and Labour MPS putting cameras in toilets?

As BBC Scotland revisit the scandal the still untold story of how Labour failed to protect Scots from infected blood!

Professor John Robertson OBA BBC Scotland is broadcasting tragic stories today of those infected by blood transfusions: Between 1970 and the early 1990s, more than 30,000 NHS patients were given blood transfusions, or treatments made using blood products, which were contaminated with hep C or HIV. Some of the blood was from abroad, but in Scotland, the majority came from Scottish donors which included prisoners and drug users. Nowhere in the extended reporting is it made clear which political parties were in Government, thus responsible for the tragedy. Here is the necessary clarification: On May 17th, the head of the Scottish … Continue reading As BBC Scotland revisit the scandal the still untold story of how Labour failed to protect Scots from infected blood!

The Herald’s misleading headline – The UN is NOT ‘probing’ any ‘Scots judge-led body’s ‘breach’ of international law

By stewartb The Herald headline states that the UN body ‘IS PROBING’. The information from the complainant, the Environmental Rights Centre for Scotland (ERCS) states that it IS URGING the UN body to intervene. These are two quite different things: we have yet to find out if the URGING will bear fruit. The ERCS statement quoted in the main blog post has this: ‘In October 2021, the governing institutions of the Convention required the Scottish Government to act ‘as a matter of urgency’ to ensure access to justice is no longer ‘prohibitively expensive’ and address its breach of the Convention’s Article … Continue reading The Herald’s misleading headline – The UN is NOT ‘probing’ any ‘Scots judge-led body’s ‘breach’ of international law

A handful of assaults and damage to property in the Scottish news every day – the Scottish ‘gangland feud’ is dwarfed by the massive plague of extreme drug gang violence and surging overdoses from England’s cities but this is hidden from you

Professor John Robertson OBA BBC Scotland continue to report and of course misreport from Spain, Scotland’s gangland feud. How did they misreport from Spain to try to add two deaths to the list? See this: What is the list of crimes affecting Scotland? This: Timeline: How the gang feud developed Very upsetting, I know, for all involved but only damage to property and no serious violence, no deaths. How does the above compare with the effects of the now 6 years, at least, of County Lines gangs from cities in England? In the Express July 20th 2024, we read: Knife crime epidemic … Continue reading A handful of assaults and damage to property in the Scottish news every day – the Scottish ‘gangland feud’ is dwarfed by the massive plague of extreme drug gang violence and surging overdoses from England’s cities but this is hidden from you

How the great Professor Noam Chomsky (96!), whose work still fully explains the media bias we suffer today, was inspired by a Scottish philosopher

Professor John Robertson OBA (PhD on the Propaganda Model (Chomsky) Thanks to JB for alerting me to this. Force and Opinion Noam Chomsky Z Magazine, July-August, 1991 In his study of the Scottish intellectual tradition, George Davie identifies its central theme as a recognition of the fundamental role of “natural beliefs or principles of common sense, such as the belief in an independent external world, the belief in causality, the belief in ideal standards, and the belief in the self of conscience as separate from the rest of one.” These principles are sometimes considered to have a regulative character; though never … Continue reading How the great Professor Noam Chomsky (96!), whose work still fully explains the media bias we suffer today, was inspired by a Scottish philosopher

How death due to a cancer screening error in Scotland is different from one in England

Professor John Robertson OBA BBC Leicestershire today has the above and: The family of a mother who died from cervical cancer after twice being wrongly told she had negative results have been awarded undisclosed damages. The misreporting of Louise Gleadell’s cervical screening results was admitted by University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust following her death aged 38 in March 2018. An internal review in 2017 found the samples, taken four years apart, were not good enough to produce reliable results but neither Ms Gleadell – a mum to three boys – nor her relatives were told about the “inadequate” samples … Continue reading How death due to a cancer screening error in Scotland is different from one in England

Labour voters’ support for the two-child benefit cap is wrong

Feed all my children? On my wife’s income from my mother’s poverty pay business, I can afford to pay school fees as well. (Photo by Jeff J Mitchell/Getty Images) Thanks to JR for alerting me to this. From the Spectator, yesterday: A Norstat poll for The Sunday Times revealed that 34 per cent of Labour voters in Scotland oppose John Swinney’s move to abolish the two-child cap, while only 31 per cent support its reversal. Despite the Scottish Greens blasting the Conservative policy as ‘morally bankrupt’, the party’s voters were the biggest proponents of the policy with only a quarter of the … Continue reading Labour voters’ support for the two-child benefit cap is wrong
