Media-driven hysteria – there is not one proven incident of an employee in the UK ever bugging their boss but a few the other way

Professor John Robertson OBA I used to be a sociologist but I’m better now, though I still love a good moral panic. Remember the last one? Spiking women with date rape drugs by hypodermic needle, almost impossible, rather than spiking drinks, worryingly easy. Why has it stopped? Not one arrest. I asked AI – Have there been any reports of proven cases of an employee bugging their boss in Scotland? No publicly reported or documented cases in Scotland appear to involve an employee successfully planting a covert bugging device (such as a hidden microphone, audio recorder, or camera) on or … Continue reading Media-driven hysteria – there is not one proven incident of an employee in the UK ever bugging their boss but a few the other way

English judges in England’s Supreme Court over-rule Scotland’s research based changes to protect victims of rape like this

Professor John Robertson OBA There was little chance that the Sunday Daily Record would report this honestly as their Holyrood 2026 campaign in support of Anas Sarwar kicks on. The above victim’s mother is concerned about a recent decision by the Supreme Court in London, which though not competent in Scots Law is, in the context of the Union, superior to the highest courts in Scotland and can exert considerable pressure on them, even over-turn their verdicts, such as in the case of Nat Fraser’s murder conviction which it quashed in 2011. Police Scotland trusted by public up to 53% more than forces in England

By Professor John Robertson In the Guardian today: Only four out of 10 people in England say they trust the police, with the UK’s biggest force, the Metropolitan police, getting the lowest confidence score, research has found. The poll surveyed nine English regions, in eight of which female respondents had greater trust in the police than male respondents. But for the Met in London, hit by a succession of scandals, women trusted Britain’s largest force less than men. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/apr/18/only-40-of-people-in-england-trust-their-police-force-research-reveals From the Common Weal in October 2023: A report by the Scottish Policing Authority has found that in this last quarter trust and … Continue reading Police Scotland trusted by public up to 53% more than forces in England
