How the Scottish Government is supporting improved cancer care – but shamefully this is not being reported by ‘your’ media

By JB Some positive things you will not be allowed to read about in the ‘Scottish’ media. Funding for projects to benefit patients and clinical staff. A total of £1.5 million funding in 2024-25 is supporting 12 projects to continue providing direct and personalised support to patients with cancer. Over £1.5 million will support 12 pilot projects across Scotland to deliver a single point of contact to people diagnosed with cancer. All of the people living within NHS Lothian, NHS Borders, NHS Dumfries and Galloway, NHS Fife, NHS Forth Valley, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, NHS … Continue reading How the Scottish Government is supporting improved cancer care – but shamefully this is not being reported by ‘your’ media

So when will bills come down?

By Liz S Research that is NOT “Good news” for Anas Sarwar and Labour. (that, as a situation, is now becoming a habitual position for Sarwar and Labour) I looked on MSM Monitor Twitter account. He has a video where in a September 2024 Radio interview the BBC’s Gary Robertson asks a straight forward direct Q that should then have received a straight forward direct answer from the interviewee, Anas Sarwar. However instead this is what was given as a response to the Q asked by Gary Robertson which was as a Q: “Can you tell us when Bills will start to come down … Continue reading So when will bills come down?

Taxation – It’s also almost as if Labour HQ do not know what they are doing

By Liz S Talking of Business…… Scottish Labour tweeted this on 21 February this year as stated by Anas Sarwar: “I will act to reinvigorate our high streets and town centres by making online giants pay their fair share. To do that a Scottish Labour government will introduce an Amazon Tax, delivering equality between our high streets and the online giants.” However it is now being reported that Keir Starmer is considering cutting the levy that Amazon pays in tax in the UK . (and also for other large tech companies too). MSM Monitor tweeted this yesterday : “Keir Starmer is planning … Continue reading Taxation – It’s also almost as if Labour HQ do not know what they are doing

Ripping-off the poor is a Sarwar family tradition in Scotland too

Professor John Robertson OBA In the Sunday National today, the above, and: The German Doner Kebab empire – which has family links to Anas Sarwar – has been advertising jobs at below the minimum wage, the Sunday National can reveal. In April 2024, before the full horror of Labour’s betrayal would be exposed, I wrote: I fear Labour in Scotland are going to campaign as if they’re kind of leftist. The media are going to cover the tracks between them and their London HQ and some voters are going to swallow it. I don’t think I’ve seen words so detached … Continue reading Ripping-off the poor is a Sarwar family tradition in Scotland too

Where’s Anas? The BBC report on his sheepish support for savage disability cuts which will have damaging knock-on effects in health care, policing and education, may not see the day out

Professor John Robertson OBA The BBC Scotland report on the Scottish Labour leader sheepishly going along with the PM’s welfare ‘reforms’ , well more savage cuts for the disabled, from only yesterday, looks likely to drop off the page soon. Maybe, when you read this, it already has. The actual report, get it quick before it disappears, finds it impossible to conceal the awfulness of the callousness in Starmer and Reeves’ plans, try as it might, so its presence has been diminished fast in the hope that no one sees it. What are the Labour plans? PIP pay Numerous individuals … Continue reading Where’s Anas? Reform UK’s manifesto ‘the sums do not add up’ and ‘would require substantial cuts to the quantity or quality of public services’ in Scotland

The Talking-up Scotland fund raiser primarily, finishing in 9 days, to enable the recruitment of some research assistance, in order to take pressure off me [74 in June and tiring] and hopefully to further improve the blog, has made a good start. To contribute, only if you can (!) go to: Talking-up Scotland – a Politics crowdfunding project in Ayr by Professor John Robertson Professor John Robertson OBA In June 2024, the IFS had a look at the Reform UK manifesto. Even this rightist think tank was less than impressed and concluded: Even with the extremely optimistic assumptions about how much economic … Continue reading Reform UK’s manifesto ‘the sums do not add up’ and ‘would require substantial cuts to the quantity or quality of public services’ in Scotland

Elaine Stewart MP and Rachel Reeves – What is Scotland getting and when is it getting it?

Scottish rep for global group responsible for wage theft from low-paid and the erosion of public services is in Scotsman to suggest Scotland has ‘poor public services’

The above is in the Scotsman today to tell us: How Scotland can escape vicious circle of ill-health, unemployment and poor public services Newcastle is not far away but, typically, he knows nothing about public services in Scotland. He clearly is ignorant of the facts on public services in Scotland, as opposed to in Newcastle. How about? More GPs, doctors, nurses, midwives, beds, home health visitors, fewer strikes, shortest NHS waiting lists, with consequent lowest stillbirth in UK, lowest Covid deaths in UK, lowest Covid care home deaths in UK, fewest (zero) hospitals in special measures…… More police officers per … Continue reading Scottish rep for global group responsible for wage theft from low-paid and the erosion of public services is in Scotsman to suggest Scotland has ‘poor public services’

Lothian Labour – ‘people who put their own vanity, self-interest and ambitions [first], to be seen as king-makers, in positions of too much power’

By stewartb In what is hardly a newspaper unsympathetic to the Labour Party in the Lothians, the coverage by the Edinburgh Evening News of the goings on amongst Labour councillors in the City of Edinburgh is noteworthy. From the Edinburgh Evening News, December 19, 2024, under the headline ‘Edinburgh council elects Labour’s Jane Meagher ….’ we find this (with my emphasis): (Labour) ‘Cllr Faccenda also abstained rather than vote for Cllr Meagher as council leader. She said there were principles which councillors were supposed to observe, the first of which was selflessness, defined as not allowing political interests to stand in … Continue reading Lothian Labour – ‘people who put their own vanity, self-interest and ambitions [first], to be seen as king-makers, in positions of too much power’

Now there is another one – Labour Midlothian councillor stripped of the whip

Anonymous Now there is another one , Labour Midlothian councillor Bryan Pottinger has been stripped of the Labour whip, on the 11 December , after what is now a second complaint that has been made about his behaviour. This is the second time an allegation has been made about him for two separate incidents and from two separate females. The Standards Commission for Scotland released their findings/conclusion on the first incident in 2023 relating to him. In 2023 a female councillor had alleged Pottinger had “behaved disrespectfully” and “had harassed her” in “making an “inappropriate comment about her underwear during a verbal exchange between them at a local event” It was determined by the Standards Commission for Scotland that “he … Continue reading Now there is another one – Labour Midlothian councillor stripped of the whip
