Is the rot finally setting in on the Tory party ?

Liz S Just how many current and previous politicians at different levels will the Tory party lose from their party to the Reform UK party. The latest two are a former Tory Welsh Secretary Sir David Jones and now we have Sir Jake Berry also announcing that he too has defected to the Reform UK party. We also had Anne Marie Morris a former Tory MP also defect to Rerform. Then in the recent English local elections we saw ……….. Former Tory MP (and Tory Minister) Andrea Jenkinson elected as the Reform UK Mayor of Lincolnshire. Also the former Tory Councillor Sarah … Continue reading Is the rot finally setting in on the Tory party ?

John Swinney does the decent thing

By Liz S John Swinney does a decent thing. He apologised for something that others did. (this is now an expected act that other political parties expect from the SNP as do the media). He did this in his capacity as the current FM of the Scottish government. For that he should be commended as sometimes for those who are wronged in the past all they really want is recognition of that fact and then someone to apologise to them on behalf of others. Some may argue and question why he did this. Well his apology as the current FM … Continue reading John Swinney does the decent thing

Herald’s Kevin McKenna casts serious doubt on his pro-independence credentials as he walks with and is ‘most impressed’ by an extreme Unionist

Liz S Kevin McKenna has written an article for the Herald. He tweeted this today: “I walked the streets of Larkhall with Reform UK. What I saw and heard should trouble John Swinney and Anas Sarwar greatly: my despatch for @HerladScotland” Hmm, but what was the Reform UK candidate saying to these people in Larkhall, as that for me, is far far more ‘troubling’ to be honest. Now I remember when Kevin McKenna wrote this on 2 September 2023 in a tweet: “I spent an afternoon on the stump of Burnbank with the most impressive Conservative I’ve ever encountered. My feature on Thomas Kerr … Continue reading Herald’s Kevin McKenna casts serious doubt on his pro-independence credentials as he walks with and is ‘most impressed’ by an extreme Unionist

Douglas Ross List Tory MSP……..also……..a………

Liz S Douglas Ross List Tory MSP……..also……..a……… Attention seeker and clearly a total political lost cause , who now seeks to try and make himself relevant again in pulling a stunt (not for the first time) in him trying to heckle the FM when he, the FM, was speaking in parliament. Ross has form in being reprimanded by the Presiding officer for his bad behaviour in the debating chamber at Holyrood , but he chooses to take absolutely no heed of any former warnings that he has had for ‘talking over the FM’ (heckling) and so this time , for doing … Continue reading Douglas Ross List Tory MSP……..also……..a………

Is Anas Sarwar so awful that he can neither be trusted nor considered competent enough to campaign?

By Liz S Angela Rayner came to Scotland to campaign for the up and coming Scottish parliament by-election in the Hamilton, Larkhall & Stonehouse seat , where she refused to speak to any Scottish newspapers. She had to abandon her plans though due to pro Palestinian protestors holding a demonstration outside the Labour in Scotland’s office in Hamilton. What is it with these two Tory HQ parties, as in one who are actually called the Tory party and the other one that is Tory in all but party name (as in the new Starmer Labour party), who both want to avoid all media scrutiny in Scotland yet they … Continue reading Is Anas Sarwar so awful that he can neither be trusted nor considered competent enough to campaign?

What is this strange ‘Reforming’ collective epiphany that Tory councillors often have

By Liz S Vote Reform and chances are you are then voting Tory. How many ‘Scottish’ but really ‘UK’ Tory Councillors is that now who have defected to Reform UK ? What is this strange collective epiphany that they, as Tory Councillors, have all had, that as party defections , have far exceeded any other party also having their own politicians similarly defecting in large numbers to Reform UK as well ? Is anyone in the media investigating or speculating why this is ? Is the downward spiral of the Tory party and the reported ascension of Reform UK in … Continue reading What is this strange ‘Reforming’ collective epiphany that Tory councillors often have

Scotland in Union means Poverty in Union?

stewartb Scotland in Union means Poverty in Union? The Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) has this on its web site: ‘Poverty: facts and figures’. It notes: ‘Poverty risk also varies across UK nations and regions, with the highest rates in the West Midlands, inner London and North West England, and considerably lower rates in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Eastern England.’ On May 21, responding to the UK Work and Pensions Secretary’s speech that day, the Chief Executive of CPAG said: ‘The elephant in the room today was the two-child limit which is pushing child poverty to a new high on this government’s watch and leaving … Continue reading Scotland in Union means Poverty in Union?

Scottish Labour is led by someone who has been repeatedly rejected as a constituency candidate in every Holyrood election

By Liz S Paul Hutcheon the Daily Record’s political Editor for the Labour party in Scotland tweeted this on ‘X’ on 6 May. “Reading that SNP list of Holyrood candidates, it’s like a revolving door of Westminster rejects” MSM Monitor in a tweet yesterday on ‘X’ then responded to Paul’s tweet in reminding us all about Anas Sarwar (as in his political career thus far). “Scottish Labour is not only led by a Westminster reject who lost his seat to Alison Thewliss in 2015. It is led by someone who has been repeatedly rejected as a constituency candidate in every Holyrood election … Continue reading Scottish Labour is led by someone who has been repeatedly rejected as a constituency candidate in every Holyrood election

As Welsh Labour call out Starmer’s cruelty, Scottish Labour hide behind BBC Scotland

By stewartb The British Labour Party is under pressure in Wales with the Senedd elections upcoming in 2026. It seems that having British Labour Party colleagues in government in Westminster is being seen as an electoral handicap. The party leaders in Wales – unlike those of the British Labour Party in Scotland – are now seeking to differentiate themselves from LINO (the Labour In Name Only party) that dominates Westminster with its MPs from England and Scotland. A BBC Wales analysis offers an insight into how Labour’s First Minister Eluned Morgan intends to promote voting for Labour in 2026. It … Continue reading As Welsh Labour call out Starmer’s cruelty, Scottish Labour hide behind BBC Scotland
