Sir John, professor of politics at Strathclyde University, said the party’s poll rating is arguably at an all-time low. That’s obviously true but this isn’t: Pollster Mark Diffley said recent developments were bad news for Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar as his party looks towards the … Continue reading How can Anas Sarwar be ‘hamstrung by events down south’ when he and Scottish Labour are far less popular than even UK Labour?

To Hell with the UK and the likes of JKR, Katie Hopkins , Kelvin McKenzie , Dan Wootten, Farage, GB News, the UK gutter press and all the others

Support Talking-up Scotland’s work to counter the lies and get you the facts, daily, at: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/checkout/help-talking-up-scotland-tell-truth-about-scotland/payment/nBQxjVzq/details By Liz S Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer was quoted in 2023 as saying that “Labour had changed permanently under his leadership”. He then stated “if you don’t like that, if you don’t like the changes that we’ve made, I say the door is open, and you can leave”. Well guess what….people are now acting upon that and so many are now leaving Labour as party members…..and also leaving as Labour voters…where future voting intentions are showing that Labour are down in the recent polling outcomes. In February … Continue reading To Hell with the UK and the likes of JKR, Katie Hopkins , Kelvin McKenzie , Dan Wootten, Farage, GB News, the UK gutter press and all the others

Not another one

By Liz S Last year in October there was an article on the BBC website. “Scottish government avoids defeat over housing emergency ‘failure’” “Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar put forward the motion which was debated by MSPs at Holyrood. It was defeated by 60 votes to 54 with eight abstentions”. “Instead, a motion amended by the government which removed the claim it had failed in responding to the emergency passed by 59 votes to 55 with eight abstentions”. “Sarwar stated homelessness on the rise” and he also said “Every number a human being in need of help and every missed … Continue reading Not another one

Labour’s hypocrisy about ordering from China

By Liz S Lies but also hypocrisy…….. Remember last week at PMQ’s the staged ‘performance’ between the then Labour MP Brian Leishman and his then Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer in respect to Alexander Dennis Bus Manufacturers. Starmer stated that “The SNP should be backing Scottish workers” …….as he said that ” the SNP are ordering Buses from China“. Apparently that was hilarious for many of the MP’s in the HOC as so many burst out laughing at the ‘China connection’. Well it has now been reported that the big Labour flagship policy GB Energy has a connection to China…… So then would all of those same MP’s , especially … Continue reading Labour’s hypocrisy about ordering from China

Access to NHS dentistry in Scotland – How trust in hypocritical Scottish Labour has ‘rotted away’

stewartb More on the state of dentistry in England. From The Mirror – traditionally a Labour-supporting newspaper (July 14, 2025): ‘Wes Streeting defends only paying for half the population to get an NHS dentist – Health Secretary Wes Streeting has been grilled by MPs about suggestions Labour will not substantially increase the NHS dentistry budget it inherited from the Tories’ ‘Health Secretary Wes Streeting has defended why the Government is only paying for half the population of England to get an NHS dentist. (my emphasis) ‘MPs on the Health Committee grilled Mr Streeting on whether he would “reconsider” a decision to stick with similar funding for … Continue reading Access to NHS dentistry in Scotland – How trust in hypocritical Scottish Labour has ‘rotted away’

Hell springs to mind as an apt description of that unwelcome scenario….but I believe the ball is in the court of voters in Scotland

By Liz S I am hopeful that somehow Reform UK will never emulate the same level of success in Scotland next year that they, as a (pretend) party, seem to have achieved in England. (and also via polls are anticipated as having even more success in the future via some subsequent UK elections). However they will, I am sure , gain some seats next year in the Scottish elections which I think will be both a disgrace and also very much a huge badge of shame for Scotland as a nation. Open Democracy wrote an article in June 2025 which … Continue reading Hell springs to mind as an apt description of that unwelcome scenario….but I believe the ball is in the court of voters in Scotland

Is the rot finally setting in on the Tory party ?

Liz S Just how many current and previous politicians at different levels will the Tory party lose from their party to the Reform UK party. The latest two are a former Tory Welsh Secretary Sir David Jones and now we have Sir Jake Berry also announcing that he too has defected to the Reform UK party. We also had Anne Marie Morris a former Tory MP also defect to Rerform. Then in the recent English local elections we saw ……….. Former Tory MP (and Tory Minister) Andrea Jenkinson elected as the Reform UK Mayor of Lincolnshire. Also the former Tory Councillor Sarah … Continue reading Is the rot finally setting in on the Tory party ?

John Swinney does the decent thing

By Liz S John Swinney does a decent thing. He apologised for something that others did. (this is now an expected act that other political parties expect from the SNP as do the media). He did this in his capacity as the current FM of the Scottish government. For that he should be commended as sometimes for those who are wronged in the past all they really want is recognition of that fact and then someone to apologise to them on behalf of others. Some may argue and question why he did this. Well his apology as the current FM … Continue reading John Swinney does the decent thing
