From the Scottish Government today: In 2013-14 when my government began its concerted programme of work on addressing the lack of women’s representation on public boards, the percentage of women Non-Executive board members of Regulated boards was 36%, at 31 December 2014. This has increased to an overall figure of 52% in 2020-21, as of 30 April 2021. Where listed public authorities gave information, they reported that 102 appointments of Non-Executive members were made during the period covered by their reports. From the Ferret today: Women wait longer than men for emergency medical care in Scotland despite the fact they are more likely to be admitted to hospital after being seen in A&E. The Ferret analysed data on monthly waiting time rates for women and men in 27 of 30 emergency departments in Scotland, obtained from Public Health Scotland through a freedom of information request. Despite surging demand NHS Scotland was ready for 97% of operations
From Public Health Scotland today: During June 2023, there were 24,435 operations planned to take place across NHSScotland. This represents an increase of 1.3% compared to the 24,125 planned for May 2023 and is 15.8% higher than the number planned a year previously in June 2022 (21,094). Scotland’s A&E 15% faster to see thousands quicker
From Public Health Scotland today, full Emergency Departments (ED) saw 69% of admissions within 4 hours in June 2023. This was the third consequent improvement in three months. From NHS England for the same period, full Emergency Departments (Type 1) saw 60.2% within 4 hours. This was the third consequent worsening of performance in three months. NHS Scotland’s A&E is thus performing 14.6% (8.8% of 60.2) faster, with consequently, thousands more seen within 4 hours than would have been the case had they lived in England.
