Nearly 5 years ago BBC Scotland reported ‘County lines’: Aberdeenshire, Perthshire and Highlands targeted by drugs gangs. They haven’t mentioned them since. Today, in the Northern Times: Chief Superintendent Robert Shepherd reveals expansion of team targeting County Lines gangs in bid to create a ‘hostile’ environment. Highland’s top cop has revealed the force has expanded the team dedicated to tackling County Lines gangs from Birmingham, Derby, Liverpool and London to create as “hostile” an environment as possible for organised crime. Chief Superintendent Robert Shepherd’s Police Performance report is due to be delivered at Highland Council this week and highlighted the … Continue reading County Lines gangs from Birmingham, Derby, Liverpool and London targeted by Scottish police chief but BBC Scotland too busy with seabirds and walking three days for a pint

Thanks to AR for alerting me to this. In June 2024, BBC Wales reported: In the Welsh government’s draft budget for 2024-25 it proposed cuts of £422m to areas outside the NHS and Transport for Wales, with ministers blaming a lack of funding from Westminster and inflation eroding the spending power of the funds available. With 1.7 times the population, that would translate to £735 million in cuts in Scotland but, from BBC Scotland today the cuts are estimated to be only ‘over’ £500 million. So, pro rata, per head, proportionally, Labour Wales is making almost 50% higher cuts – … Continue reading Incompetent Labour Government in Wales to make 50% greater cuts than Scottish Government

By Professor John Robertson OBA From British Social Attitudes 41 | National Identity, released today: Those who support being outside the EU are more likely than those in favour of membership to think family matters to people’s identity – but those who back Scottish independence are less likely than its opponents to take this view. Across Britain, 78% of those who support Brexit believe having been born in Britain is important to being ‘truly British’, compared with 45% of those who favour EU membership. As you might expect, Brexiteers are far more likely to be racist in this sense. In Scotland, … Continue reading Research reveals Brexiteers and Scottish unionists more narrowly nationalistic than Scottish independence supporters

Anonymous The irritating, frustrating yet wearily predictable thing about Labour and some of the pro UK media just now is that , part of that pro UK media, have somehow willingly bought into this line (spin) that Labour are pushing that they, as the new UK government, have been forced to make specific painful “Cuts that they did not want to make”. That same section of the pro UK media however are not challenging them, Labour, on why they are making these particular “cuts” mainly only upon some of the most vulnerable groups in society while others who are more than able to ‘take the hit’ financially are being ignored by Labour. Meanwhile here in Scotland that same media, indeed pretty much all of the UK media , are currently challenging and questioning why the Scottish government are daring to state … Continue reading Others who are more than able to ‘take the hit’ financially are being ignored by Labour

Anonymous So there is blog by a freelance Journalist who is called David Henke. He has written a piece in respect to: “1950s born women to face a quadruple whammy to their hopes over compensation, heating allowances, fuel bills and new taxes” Mr Henke notes that since Labour came to power “pensioners rather than the better off have been singled out to pay the price to balance the books of running the country” He also states a very pertinent point in that Pensioners are those in society who “often are not in the best of health, have worked most of their life … Continue reading Pensioners must then be assumed by Labour as being easy targets

By Professor John Robertson OBA BBC Scotland‘s heartlessly titled Disclosure show, once more ignores the major crime worry for all of us – English County Lines drug gangs currently terrorising a town near you, and omits the fact that, according to the National Records of Scotland, suicide by women fell last year. In their BBC Breakfast insert this morning, they only had a Young Offenders Institute, Polmont, suicide, their Disclosure suicide teaser (above) and the possible visit of the mother of a 2021 English murder victim to a memorial in Edinburgh. Then it was on to rain and rain. BBC Scotland … Continue reading As female suicide falls, BBC Scotland have a suicide murder ‘fest’ to keep you anxious and averse to leaving the ‘comforts’ of the Union

Anonymous If Jackie Baillie really “wants to try to blame the SNP for local cuts”. Well Anas Sarwar , when recently interviewed by BBC Reporting about the Scottish government, stated : “Typical of the SNP always blaming someone else” So Labour in Scotland, via their own leader, apparently does not support the idea that blaming others as being an action that is ever appropriate or a valid defence . So it seems that he , Sarwar, needs to then have a word with his Deputy Ms Baillie, who yet again is about to expose him, Sarwar, as a political hypocrite if she does indeed “try to blame the SNP for local cuts”. He also might want to have a … Continue reading Blaming – Labour really really really need to start to seeing themselves as others (clearly) see them.
