Expelled MP with Herald tries island famine scare story after only two days with no deliveries

In a stormy month, there have been a few cancellations of the Oban to Castlebay (Barra) sailings and the last two days have seen cancellations but for nearly every other day, reliability has been 100%. How wee are the coolers and fridges in the Barra shops that two days means a famine is imminent? Is this just a scare story from Angus Brenda MacNeil MP after his ejection from the SNP and the looming loss of his seat? Why was he ejected? Was it this? ‘Sleazebuster’ MP’s regret over three-in-a-bed romp with teenage girls: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-447550/Sleazebuster-MPs-regret-bed-romp-teenage-girls.html or this: Love rat SNP … Continue reading Expelled MP with Herald tries island famine scare story after only two days with no deliveries

Water bills reporting does not add up Scottish charges which are lower for better water

From BBC Business today: The average annual water and sewerage bill is expected to rise by 6% in England and Wales, up £27 to £473, says suppliers’ trade body Water UK. In Scotland, water and waste charges will go up by 8.8%, a rise of £36. From BBC Scotland yesterday: Water bills in Scotland will increase by 8.8% from April. Scottish Water said the rise was needed to provide “significant investment” in replacing ageing infrastructure and improving services. The publicly-owned company dismissed reports that it was already planning similar-sized increases for a further two years beyond 2024. This year’s increase … Continue reading Water bills reporting does not add up Scottish charges which are lower for better water

CalMac now significantly more reliable than both comparable North American ferry services

Today, we read in Global News (Canada) that BC Ferries are running at only 85% reliability, as they head in to the year, with 20 of 41 vessels due for major maintenance and stricken by a staffing and breakdown crisis. https://globalnews.ca/news/10263918/bc-ferries-repair-update/ BC Ferries and Washington State Ferries, serving archipelagos with around 30-40 vessels and 40-50 locations, in northern waters, are the most comparable with CalMac, though both operate at lower latitudes and in less stormy conditions. As several island reps have told BBC Scotland, we should learn from other ferry services. CalMac is running at around 99% reliability in the … Continue reading CalMac now significantly more reliable than both comparable North American ferry services

GDP – Does any other country have to ignore its offshore activity to make it seem to be in trouble?

From the Scottish Government (!) today: Scotland’s onshore GDP is estimated to have fallen by 0.1% in November. This follows a contraction of 0.6% in October (revised from -0.5%). In the three months to November, GDP is estimated to have contracted by 0.2% compared to the previous three month period. This indicates a slowing of growth, relative to the increase of 0.4% in 2023 Quarter 3 (July to September). Try searching for the word ‘offshore’ in the full report. Not a mention. But what, I hear you say about those booming energy revenues from oil, gas and renewables? You know, … Continue reading GDP – Does any other country have to ignore its offshore activity to make it seem to be in trouble?

Never ones to let facts get in the way of a bad story, the Herald fakes another Highland Clearance

If the bigger picture doesn’t fit your agenda, maybe just ignoring that for a wee bit that does will get you bad headline. The Herald today, as it does with health outcomes, crime, roads and all sorts of stuff, ignores the facts and goes all Highland Clearances again, on the way no doubt to blaming Nicola and putting the case for a Forbesian putsch. They’ve carefully picked out Sutherland. Why? Well this: The population in the Highlands has increased by between 10% and 15% in the 20 years from 2001 and 2021. Notably it is declining fast in Dame Jackie … Continue reading Never ones to let facts get in the way of a bad story, the Herald fakes another Highland Clearance

SNP drug death prevention programme leading to massive fall in ambulance call-outs and hospital admissions

Opiates and opioids, including heroin, morphine and methadone, are implicated in more than 8 out of 10 drug related deaths in Scotland. The picture is the same globally. Naloxone is a medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose. It is an opioid antagonist—meaning that it binds to opioid receptors and can reverse and block the effects of other opioids, such as heroin, morphine, and oxycodone. Scotland was the first country in the world, in 2021, to implement a national naloxone programme, which saw take-home naloxone (THN) given to those released from prison and distributed to community drug services. Naloxone provision has since been … Continue reading SNP drug death prevention programme leading to massive fall in ambulance call-outs and hospital admissions

£1 MILLION plus and not one ‘SNP fraudster’ jailed – Sarwar’s dad recommends Punjabi judge to get results

A Freedom of Information request to Police Scotland, has revealed: Police Scotland, may keep limited records for investigations, which record overtime costs and non-pay costs.   These costs do not provide an accurate reflection of the total number of hours spent on an investigation nor do they provide, for the reasons stated above, an accurate cost for an investigation. The costs do not include, for example, officer hours where that officer would have been on duty anyway and as such are not recorded as a specific expense to a particular investigation. However, to be of assistance, I can confirm the recorded … Continue reading £1 MILLION plus and not one ‘SNP fraudster’ jailed – Sarwar’s dad recommends Punjabi judge to get results

117 bottles of Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs at your expense in Boris parties but ‘your’ media has SNP leaders swearing about him

From SNP Media today: Responding to the publication of the cost of drinks served at Boris Johnson’s Brexit party, the SNP’s Scotland spokesperson, Tommy Sheppard MP said: “It’s shameful that Boris Johnson’s boozy Brexit party cost the taxpayer £7,897. “While the disgraced former Prime Minister and his advisers guzzled wine from the taxpayer-funded government wine cellar, people across Scotland lamented the loss of their EU membership, their access to the world’s largest single market and customs union, and their ability to live and work in 27 countries. “For context, that means No.10 consumed 117 bottles of Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs … Continue reading 117 bottles of Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs at your expense in Boris parties but ‘your’ media has SNP leaders swearing about him
