According to an Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, for the value of criminal assets recovered in Scotland in the financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24, published today : An example of the criminals whose profits were confiscated is: Organised crime gang who supplied cocaine on a ‘wholesale level’ jailed. Four members of an organised crime gang responsible for flooding Edinburgh and the Lothians with cocaine have been jailed. By Professor John Robertson The Guardian today has: Numbers studying nursing down sharply in all parts of England, RCN says North-east the worst-affected region, recording 40% drop in acceptances on to pre-registration courses, union finds but for some reason never actually tells us how many have been accepted for places into English universities to do Nursing degrees. It’s: 13,870 students were accepted into nursing courses in England in 2024, down from 14,010 in 2023.1 And in Scotland? In an extensive review of research over the last 30 years, published in 2016 in the International Journal of Environmental Research into Public Health, Dean Kyne (University of Texas) and Bob Bolin (Arizona State University) identified 20 reports confirming that normal operation, as opposed to during accidents like that at Chernobyl, causes cancer especially after exposure before birth and in very young children.
