From Accident and emergency Accredited official statistics, published today, for Type 1 emergency departments, in February 2026:

• 41 252 waited more than 4 hours, down 11% from 46 571 in January 2026.
• 16 592 waited more than 8 hours, down 17% from 19 994.
• 8 024 waited more than 12 hours, down 24% from 10 550.

These are dramatic falls in one month.
