From Renewables Now today::
The UK government has blocked Chinese wind turbine maker Mingyang Smart Energy Group Ltd (SHA:601615) from developing a GBP-1.5-billion (USD 2bn/EUR 1.73bn) manufacturing hub in the Scottish Highlands, citing national security concerns.
The decision suspends plans that were first unveiled in late 2025. The initiative was described as the largest and first fully integrated facility of its kind in the UK. The factory was supposed to be making turbines for offshore and floating wind projects.
“Industry have sought our view on the use of these turbines in British waters and in our energy system. After careful consideration, government’s view is that we cannot support the use of them in UK offshore wind projects,” a government spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
and:
The decision has drawn criticism from some Scottish political leaders, such as first minister John Swinney.
Swinney expressed deep disappointment, saying the labour government’s move to stop this investment in the renewables industry is risking up to 1,500 Scottish jobs. “At the very moment we should be building clean energy, they are sabotaging Scotland’s industrial future,” he stated. https://renewablesnow.com/news/uk-blocks-gbp-1-5bn-chinese-wind-turbine-factory-over-security-fears-1292051/

MSM Monitor posted this on ‘X’ today
“The UK Labour Govt has moved from simply favouring England to actively sabotaging Scotland. The blocking of the £1.5bn China turbine investment is just the latest example. It’s OK for China to have a stake in the Hinckley nuclear power plant and a mega-embassy in London but not OK to invest in Scottish renewables. The problem is exacerbated by having political parties and a broadcaster that are just English branches tagged ‘Scottish’ which means the decision isn’t getting the condemnation or coverage it deserves. London kicks Scotland and these branches polish its boots”
So what exactly does the BBC in Scotland see this as, in relation to it being a major political story :
Well they , the BBC website , added this story onto the Scotland main page hours ago “Chinese firm’s Highland port plans blocked by UK government” but already it is now gone from that page
There is nothing about that story on their Scottish, checks bloody notes, Politics page.
The do however still have room on their Scottish Politics page for articles that are 1 day old, 2 days old, 3 days old, 4 days old and 5 days old…………
One of these older articles on the Scottish Politics page is “Sturgeon denies ‘obsession’ with gender reforms when Scotland’s first minister” that article, when you go into it, is dated as the 24 March ,that is 2 days ago , but on the main page it states it is only 1 day old ???………
Apparently as a negative action taken by the Labour UK government against Scotland, well that is seemingly not classified as being significant political news by the political BBC news team that works in Scotland but obviously not for Scotland !
Also MSM noted in other posts that:
“UK Chinese investment. Notice anything”?
“Mega-Embassy in London – tick
Hinckley Point nuclear power plant – tick
Bradwell B nuclear site in Essex – tick
Heathrow Airport – tick
Electricity Power Networks in South East – tick
Northumbrian Water – tick
Battery site in Wiltshire – tick
Scottish wind turbines – cross”
I agree with MSM Monitor, as where are all of the same “security concerns” in England with all of the Chinese investment in various places there?
Apparently “The UK Labour government welcomes Chinese investment that aligns with ‘national interests’”…………..so then when they , Labour, say “national interests” where exactly do they mean , location wise, in their use of the word “national”……..not in Scotland interests then ?

I had written this in my comment:
“Well they , the BBC website , added this story onto the Scotland main page hours ago “Chinese firm’s Highland port plans blocked by UK government” but already it is now gone from that page”
However they, the BBC website, have now added a totally new article on this topic with a header that states:
“Why was a £1.5bn Chinese plan to invest in a Highland yard blocked”?
Where , within the text of the long article , they wrote this:
“Normally, investment and jobs on that scale would have politicians of all parties lining up to shake hands and sign deals. But when it comes to Chinese investment, things are a bit more complicated“
As a piece it reads a bit like “Me thinks thy doth protest too much” (as in this BBC article) or to put it more simply , there is a lot of over explaining in this article, where they, the BBC, end the article by writing “But ministers won’t deliver on that pledge of a green industrial revolution at any cost, it seems – not when the price is national security”
So the BBC are yet again siding with Labour and not Scotland ?
“National security” ?
But only in Scotland it seems………as far as the BBC are concerned.
Not shocked.
It was, as a new article, written 6 hours ago but already it is the 8th article on the main Scotland page and it has also been added onto the Scottish Politics page (unlike their original other article) and it was added onto that Scottish Politics page 7 hours ago and it is now the 6th article.
The BBC , yet again, positioning themselves as the official opposition to the SNP in this election……….(and every other one as well, if we are being honest).
