The SNP saved Prestwick airport from closure just over 12 years ago, protecting around 3 200 jobs in the airport and in the surrounding area and boosting the local economy by £61 million annually.
We’re used to having a wee laugh at Scottish Labour sums but that £5 million won’t go far. 450 jobs, never mind the 60 apprentices? 5 million divided by 450 means only £11 100 for each employee, to cover not only their wages but all of the costs for the employer.
The average wage in Scotland is around £39 000, the media wage is around £31 000 and the minimum wage is around £24 000pa.
Scottish Labour is a tiny thing? Is the genetic pool too small now with resulting collapse in the IQ of members? They keep doing daft things like this.

it has been a good week for job announcements in Scotland. A total of 2300 including the ones at Prestwick have been announced. Kate Forbes, deputy FM, seems to have played a leading role in getting the jobs.

Thank you TuS for bringing this to people’s attention. The more idiotic mistakes by Labour exposed, the better.

Agreed. But when you add on the £15m to be provided by Scottish Government and £40m by Ryanair, the potential for higher paid jobs is there.
