  1. The media silence does damage. Those of us who are not supportive of the Scottish Government (unionists) tend then to believe the UK. statistics are representative of Scotland as well.

    They do this with the NHS too, preferring to believe the news channels when they give corridor care statistics and suchlike.

    My nephew actually said on one of my posts that he didn’t mind how the UK government got funds to Scotland as long as they weren’t skimmed off the top for hush hush projects – a dig at independence. I did tell him that WM was not our benefactor, it was simply returning some of our own money. Met with deaf ears I’m afraid. Unsurprisingly he also supports the Trump war.

  2. O/T BBC Radio 4 Today programme this morning broadcast in part from Cardiff. It interviewed someone from the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS). The messaging was clear: public services in Wales, notably the NHS and school education, are performing much worse than in England. And that’s down to the actions or inactions of Labour politicians long in government in Wales.

    It was ‘curious’ – and telling perhaps – to listen to the IFS representative present a string of public service comparisons and yet never include a comparison of services in Wales with those in Scotland, two nations of the UK with more closely comparable powers of government.
