From BBC Scotland today:

Council tax in Glasgow is set to rise by between 5% and 6%, after the SNP and Greens agreed a deal to pass a budget. Free school meals are expected to be extended to all children in primary seven and the council also plans to invest in cleansing, including more gully cleaning to prevent flooding.1

The average in Scotland, looks like being around 7-9%, well above that in Glasgow.

In Birmingham City, now more than a year into a bin strike with no collections, the figure is 7.49%, around 50% higher.than in SNP-run Glasgow.

In Birmingham, 4 to 7 year-olds get free school meals but for those 8 to 11 only if their family earns less than £7 400 per year.2, 3

Any other benefits of living in SNP-run Glasgow?

Here’s a good (very) one:

In Birmingham, for 2025 the combined rate of violence and sexual offences was 48 per 1,000.4

In Glasgow, non-sexual and sexual offences are reported separately but for the former the rate was 18.6 per 1 000 and for the latter, 3.5 per 1 000.

Combining the two Glasgow figures to produce a figure of 22.1, we get a violent crime rate in Birmingham that is more than twice as high.

  1. Imagine if Glasgow were in the same position as Birmingham…..

    A field day would be had by the BBC, Daily Record (and other anti SNP newspapers), the GMB Union and also all of the opposition parties……..especially with Labour and Sarwar.

    A constant revisit and regurgitate…………more so now, just prior to the May elections.

    However a certain GMB Rep (Chris Mitchell) within Scotland still wants you to think it is Glasgow who has the biggest problem in the UK on rubbish piling up aka fly-tipping , as on 17 February he posted this below ……….(basically he is still trying to flog what now must surely be a dead Horse , especially when one looks at the dire , excessively long and so then the disastrous position aka dispute within Birmingham between the Labour Council and the Refuse workers) !

    His post was this:

    “Glasgow city Council will set its budget on 24th February will it mean back to more cuts for the city. We have been very vocal on funding for a flytipping strategy Gmb will always fight for public services and communities. Solidarity”……..

    Yeh, but it seems that Chris, as in he who colludes with the Labour party in Scotland, forgets that it is a Labour Council in Birmingham who are letting down the workers as they , the Labour Council in Birmingham, want to make cuts to and also changes to contracts and conditions of the very workers who collect the rubbish (same workers that Chris states that he, in Scotland, supports and defends…on behalf of, checks notes, the Labour party here)..……….

    So basically the Birmingham Labour Council are not fighting for public services nor for community solidarity………indeed the opposite is the case…….oh and the Rats are a far far bigger problem in Birmingham just now as well…………..

    #WheeshtForLabour………that’s Chris’s mantra in Scotland…..

    Unfortunately for Chris , we in Scotland also get to see and read the ‘News elsewhere within the UK’ , so his constant #SNPBAD tends to fail as a political position , especially when one sees and hears what is happening with Labour councils and governments as run by his favourite party, the same one that he constantly seems to canvass for in Scotland.

    The GMB in Scotland are not politically neutral so then their input into any political arguments and political debates within Scottish politics should always be regarded as being tainted by their own clear bias and partisan allegiance only to the Labour party…

    Also it seems that only in Scotland is fly-tipping the fault of the SNP Councils and also the Scottish government……..elsewhere in the UK the blame is always apportioned only to those are doing the actual fly- tipping….so perhaps Chris from the GMB could focus more on the real culprits creating the mess , as opposed to those that he always accuses of being more to blame, as in the SNP.

    #Simples………that is, only if you are not being constantly untruthful and dishonest …..like Chris from the GMB.
