The ‘Scottish’ Daily Express, today, has:

SNP accused of ‘gross mismanagement’ as NHS Ayrshire placed in special measures

and down the page, this major inaccuracy:

Mr Whittle [Tory list MSP] said: “The escalation of NHS Ayrshire and Arran is deeply alarming, and the buck stops with the SNP. Their gross mismanagement of the health service over the last two decades means health boards have been pushed beyond breaking point.

“Waiting lists are through the roof and A&E waiting times at hospitals such as Ayr and Crosshouse have skyrocketed on the SNP’s watch.”

Not, of course, in either the Express nor in the Tory agendas, to tell us that the above measures relate only to finance and not to performance of the kind that matters to patients, such as this:

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is not ‘on the brink of collapse.’ In England, some NHS trusts have entered special measures or been merged, but Scotland’s 14 territorial boards remain operational
