Talking-up Scotland pushes well beyond 1 000 readers per day average but cannot attract realistic funding

Talking-up Scotland has been growing and improving since its first crowd-funders, in February and September 2025, as is clear from our monthly WordPress report, above.

In January 2025, we had only 31 254 discrete visitors and only141 posts published, compared to 38 575 visitors and 166 posts published in January 2026.

More subjectively, I feel, the quality has gone up and the presence across other social media from x, FB, and Bsky, to now tik tok, has swollen by thousands.

However, in sharp contrast, the February 2026 crowd-funder struggles with so far, with only 174 supporters out of nearly 2 000 blog subscribers and several thousands across social media seeing at least the headlines.

Is it possible that 99.9% of TuS ‘readers‘ are too hard-pressed to contribute?

  1. I think it is that there are so many good causes out there that it is hard to know which ones to give to. Yours is one of the most vital and wish I could help more.

  2. Have you tried approaching ScotGov direct? You are actually working on their behalf. There was supposed to be a rebuttal unit but doesn’t appear to have materialised.

    Managed to donate successfully. More on the way.

  5. I have tried to donate but my ancient kit just buffers and doesn’t lrt me donate.

    Maybe this is part of the low response.
