Based on extensive searches [100 web pages and posts] across web sources and X posts, the Scottish Labour Party has had the most individuals (primarily councillors) reported in the media as convicted sex offenders since 2007. This includes at least five confirmed convictions for child sex offences [in order above]:
- Sean Morton (2017): Convicted of possessing indecent images of children and extreme pornography. @msm_monitor
- David Fagan (2018): Convicted of sharing child rape fantasies online. @msm_monitor
- Craig Edward (2024): Convicted of possessing indecent images of children. @msm_monitor
- Ewan Dillon (2024): Convicted of possessing images of girls aged 5-10 being raped. @msm_monitor
- David Graham (2025): Convicted of sexual offences involving a 15-year-old girl.
In comparison:
- SNP: One confirmed conviction (former councillor Mark Kerr, jailed in 2022 for grooming and sexually assaulting teenage boys). bbc.com Others, such as Jordan Linden, were charged but not confirmed as convicted in available reports. news.stv.tv
- Scottish Conservatives: No confirmed convictions found; one councillor (Michael Green) was charged in 2021, but no conviction reported. theguardian.com
- Scottish Liberal Democrats: No confirmed convictions found.
- Scottish Greens: No confirmed convictions found.
Note that media reports often focus on allegations or charges rather than solely convictions, but “sex offenders” typically refers to those convicted and placed on the sex offenders register. Sources across political spectrums (e.g., BBC, Daily Record, X discussions) highlight Labour’s cases as the most numerous, with balanced coverage showing fewer for other parties.
