In the Ardrossan Herald two days ago:
WEST Scotland Liberal Democrat [List] MSP Jamie Greene has hit out after it was revealed the cost of Arran’s newest ferry had now hit £197.5 million. It was confirmed last week that MV Glen Rosa, originally due to enter service in 2018, would now face an extra cost of £12.5 million.
Nationalised [bad, to a newsrag owned by a corporation] shipyard Ferguson Marine confirmed last year that the vessel would not hit the waters until late 2026. That means, after sea trials, it almost certainly won’t be serving the island route until early 2027.

Do you think that means the ferry service is currently so bad, they absolutely need this new ferry and pronto?
Why don’t we ask them? 1 064 of them, and not Jamie or the self-appointed user group headed up, no doubt, by a businessman, from off the island?

Regular large-scale surveys of CalMac ferry performance, published but ignored by MSM, as they pursue a different agenda regardless of the facts, are fully transparent. Any journalist can scrutinise these surveys, demand all information, and report on any debates within them. Notably none ever do.
If you don’t trust these surveys, challenge CalMac for details of who did them, how they were done and get the raw data. They cannot refuse you. If you have something and can present it honestly, I promise to publish it.
In January 2025 and covering the period April 2024 to January 2025, 79.4% of 15 000 survey respondents on the Brodick/Ardrossan, Claonaig/Lochranza and Tarbert/Lochranza services.
Notably in the above period, all bar 2 of 45 cancellations on the Arran run were due to hazardous weather conditions and only 47.7% of the car deck was occupied.
It’s not a good match with the nonsense in the Herald or on BBC Scotland, is it?

Jamie Greene thinks that because he defected from the Tory party to the Lib Dems that then somehow makes him appear better than his former colleagues in the Tory party
Nope..
That does not work as the Lib Dems can hardly hold their heads up high when it comes to some of the unethical political actions taken by some individual politicians within their party.
First we had Lib Dem MP Alistair Carmichael in #FrenchGate
During the 2015 election, a memo was leaked to The Daily Telegraph claiming that First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told the French ambassador she would prefer David Cameron to remain Prime Minister.
Following a Cabinet Office inquiry, Carmichael admitted he authorised his special adviser, Euan Roddin, to leak the memo. Carmichael initially denied any knowledge of the leak, with judges later finding he had told a “blatant lie” in a TV interview when he claimed to be unaware of the memo. He later admitted to being “less than fully truthful” with the investigation.
“Less than truthful” aka lied.
Second is Lord David Steel a former Lib Dem Peer (and former Lib Dem MSP).
When a 2020 inquiry found that Lord Steel “abdicated his responsibility” by failing to act on allegations against Cyril Smith. The IICSA report heavily criticized Steel for “turning a blind eye” to the allegations, stating he prioritized political expediency over child protection
An earlier internal Liberal Democrat investigation in 2019 concluded there were “no grounds for action” against Steel, as Smith had not directly admitted criminality to him.
Third Nick Clegg Lib Dem party leader
Prior to the 2010 election, Nick Clegg and Lib Dem MPs signed a National Union of Students (NUS) pledge to vote against any increase in tuition fees.
Upon entering a coalition with the Conservatives, the Lib Dems supported raising the cap on annual tuition fees in England from roughly £3,200 to £9,000.
In November 2010, Nick Clegg was one of 27 Liberal Democrat MPs who voted for the higher fees.
Chris Huhne Lib Dem MP
He was charged with perverting the course of justice over a 2003 speeding case when his wife had claimed that she was driving the car, and so she accepted the licence penalty points on his behalf so that he could avoid being banned from driving. Huhne pleaded guilty at his trial, resigned as a member of parliament, and he and Pryce were sentenced to eight months in prison for perverting the course of justice
Natalie Bird an ex Lib Dem candidate
The Liberal Democrats have been ordered to pay £14,000 to a former parliamentary candidate, Ms Bird, who says she was driven out of the party and barred from standing as an MP over her gender-critical views.
Natalie Bird was removed as a prospective parliamentary candidate for Wakefield after she wore a top bearing the slogan “Woman: Adult Human Female” to a party meeting.
Ms Bird, from Stockport, said she was “treated like a wicked witch and felt targeted” in a campaign of discrimination, Central London County Court heard on Wednesday.
Ms Bird said she was called “an Illiberal Terf”, suspended from the Lib Dems and banned from standing as an MP for a decade.
Ms Bird wore the T-shirt bearing the words “Woman: Adult Human Female” in the days after she was nominated as the Lib Dem candidate for Wakefield in December 2018.
Soon afterwards she received a letter suspending her membership and notifying her there would be a formal disciplinary hearing against her for breaching the party’s code of conduct.
(Strange then that it is often always only the SNP , as a party and as the Scottish government, who are defined as and referred to as only those who both instigated , supported and voted for the GRR Bill. However even when Jamie Greene was a Tory MSP he too also voted for that bill as did two other Tory MSP’s also. As did all other Lib Dems MSP’s and also many within the Labour branch office too – including Anas Sarwar).
Jamie Greene is just another ex Tory who assumes that his former tenure in the Tory branch office is now old news , in the past , is now history and so then can be cancelled , giving him a clean slate, and so assumed by him and his new party the Lib Dems that he then can be absolved from any shared guilt, blame and culpability as a former Tory MSP.
Nope.
Jamie Greene initially chose to be a Tory MSP and really now that he is a Lib Dem MSP (not through an election but via a defection), well he still is a Tory, just with a different Tory party colour from his former party, but they are both pretty much the same kind of party, just ask why some disenchanted Tory voters decide to sometimes vote for the Lib Dems instead of the Tory party and also why Nick Clegg, a former Lib Dem leader at HQ , chose to go into a coalition with the Tories in 2010.
The brass neck of some of these opposition politicians is staggering.
