Government response to winter weather disruption in the north. Tim Eagle [Con] says support for Moray, Aberdeenshire and the Highlands was too slow given the severity of the conditions and argues that ministers should have brought in extra help.
It’s a Daily Mail story picked up by the highly trained researchers at Pacific Quay or just phoned in by the Scottish Cons.
Politically-motivated pass-the-buck – local councils hold primary responsibility for on-the-ground actions in their areas, such as declaring major incidents, clearing roads, managing school closures and supporting residents. Moray Council has been Conservative-led since May 2022 and Aberdeenshire has been so since 2020, enabled by the Lib Dumbs.
Have they been preparing for extreme winter weather?
In July 2025, 1 200 grit bins (60%) were removed by Tory/LD Aberdeenshire removed to cut costs.
Only Aberdeenshire Council declared a ‘major incident’.

Well, well, then. Remove grit bins and then complain that somebody else is at fault for there being no grit bins? Did the Tories not think no one would join up the dots?

These councils are rogues, the ones run by English HQ’d parties…no matter who sits in the seats taking huge sums from the public purse, are operating to advantage of their English masters. Causing unecessary max disruption, it’s the same in Edinburgh with the Tory/Labour coalition(!) council, wasting money, overpaying council employees for years and years, leaving the city a total mess now, it looks like a poor, neglected rubbish strewn, graffitied English city.
The Eng HQ’d parties are deliberately wrecking Scottish cities and towns…to use a massive stick to blame the SNP, and they succeed via their BritNat English media.
The SNP have given extra funding to councils have they not for various services…and also now the councils do NOT have to pay out housing ‘benefit’ (now it’s included in the DWP’s so called universal credit) to those in need, but what happens to that money not now being spent on HB, they should still have that in the coffers I’d really like to know the answer to that.
Thanks for articles John et al…can’t keep up as much as I’d like. 😦
