As the Labour chancellor promises to prioritise UK firms for shipbuilding contracts, history tells us we cannot trust them

Anas Sarwar tweeted this yesterday :

“So much for Stronger for Scotland…. More like SNP – Stronger for Poland. This is a huge blow to Scottish shipbuilding. Once again, jobs and investment going abroad on the SNP’s watch”

This was in relation to the news that “Ferguson ship yard misses out on new CaLMac Ferry order” as headlined on the BBC website, of course it was.

Yet I saw on WGD a commentator, Legerwood, add a comment and a link onto that site that stated this:

“Yet when Labour were in power, along with the LibDems, in Holyrood they awarded a contract for 2 boats to a Polish Yard and Fergusons lost out. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4185082.stm

The BBC article stated :

A row has reopened over the Scottish Executive’s decision to award two shipbuilding contracts to a Polish yard earlier this month”.

“The SNP has obtained a letter which it claims proves the executive could have backed Ferguson of Port Glasgow”

Once again with Sarwar it is a case of “Do as I (we) say not as I (we) do’.

Of course we all know how Sarwar promised he and his Labour party would be “Stronger for Grangemouth refinery workers” and then he and his party let them down aka betrayed them after the 2024 GE.

This was a “huge blow” for those workers, and the Grangemouth area and also for “Scotland” too. As “once again” Labour let Scotland down under Sarwar’s “watch” as the so called Labour leader in Scotland.

Labour have been letting Scotland down for too long.

Vote SNP in 2026 as a first step to making it all stop.

  1. Ferguson’s betrayed by SNP , say Sarwar ?

Is this the Ferguson’s that for the last six years Labour , among others , has been denigrating for the late delivery of two ferries ?

How many times has Sarwar raised the issue of Ferguson’s delayed ferries and wanted the contract cancelled ?

How often have Sarwar and Labour complained about the SNP Government spending Public money to save the Ferguson’s yard from closure ?

  2. MSM Monitor posted this today on ‘X’ today (that BBC GMS Radio host GR)

“Anas Sarwar interviewed by Gary Robertson. Not asked if he backs digital ID. No 1 conference announcement. Not asked why Jaguar helped but not Grangemouth. Not asked about disability welfare cuts. Not asked about Leishman, Rayner, Mandelson. Corruption, pure and simple”

The ID cards UK petition is now standing at over 2 million people who have signed this petition and so who are all opposing the introduction of ID cards by Labour HQ….yet BBC in Scotland do not think it is significant enough or is seen as being in any way “controversial” as a Labour HQ idea …..so they then do not see it as worth asking the Labour branch office manager about it…..also…………..

Earlier this year Sarwar was heard using a very weak excuse for the lack of help from Labour HQ as the new UK government for the workers at Grangemouth Oil Refinery.

As Sarwar stated that “Grangemouth Oil Refinery” was owned by a “private company”…..

Yet just recently Jaguar Land Rover , a “private company” based in England, were helped by Labour HQ as the UK government who , as a government, have underwritten a loan of £1.5 billion to “protect jobs” there…..in England….but somehow BBC Scotland do not think that is double standards being applied by Labour HQ for one group of workers in England and then another lot in Scotland….with the Scottish workers getting very badly let down by Labour HQ………..and also badly let down by Sarwar as well………

Then Leishman being suspended by Labour HQ is not seen as significant enough for BBC Scotland as a serious incident worth asking Sarwar about…..yet Sarwar himself campaigned with Brian Leishman last year to get him elected as a Labour MP in the same constituency that both Sarwar and Labour HQ let down badly….that is Grangemouth.

Just imagine similar situations happening with the SNP and then the BBC in Scotland avoiding raising these as ‘situations’ that were very significant, controversial even and so then to be seen as (or presented as by the BBC as) being very damaging to the SNP as a party and as a government………

So if voters are again waking up to #LabourBad in Scotland then I also hope they see the same with the BBC………who are, like Labour, not averse to applying ‘Double standards” too……..especially when it comes to politics in Scotland …..as in with the Labour party and the SNP …………..as the BBC in Scotland have (certain rigid) rules (applied) for some (SNP) and then (totally different and flexible ) rules (applied) for others (the Labour party) ……….

  3. BBC Scotland is a disgrace when it comes to holding anyone but the SNP to account ; it clearly is no more than a propaganda arm of the UK Government , intent on stopping the break up of this disastrous Union .
