The Scottish Lib Dems, Wendy Chamberlain MP has manged to get in the Scottish Legal News today to say:

New crime statistics showing a five per cent increase in sexual crimes “paint a deeply troubling picture” about violence against women and girls in Scotland, the the Scottish Liberal Democrats have said.

It’s not clear why a Westminster MP should be attempting to scare Scots on crime figures which are far lower than and increasing more slowly in England & Wales. Did she comment on the latter when they came out. I doubt it.

In Scotland, sexual crimes were 5% higher compared to the year ending June 2024 (increasing from 14,417 to 15,129 crimes), and 9% higher compared to the year ending June 2021 (increasing from 13,939 to 15,129 crimes).

In England and Wales, there have been general increases in police recorded sexual offences over the last decade, largely because of improvements in police recording practices. There was an 11% increase in YE March 2025 (to 209,556 offences), compared with the previous year (188,627 offences).

All things being equal, with 11 times the population, England and wales might have been expected to have around 160 000 crimes of violence but had 209 000, around 30% more.

Is this not the news and if so why?

    ‘and increasing more slowly in England & Wales’ should say, more slowly than in Eng/Wales?
    I might be reading that wrong.

    Alex Massie the fake, pretendy “dont know” propagandist, thinks this is somehow bad for the SNP.

    But its another brick falling out of the Unionist wall, and Brit Nit Nat splits can only HELP the SNP.

  4. Every time any Lib Dem posts anything , and I mean, anything that is critical of the SNP….

    Then the absolute best response is just to write as a reply….. #AskAlex.

    Nothing else…just that…they will know exactly to what you refer….apparently ACH hated it when people used to do that….why some stopped doing it….well I do not know…..

    As the best response to both him and also to others within his party is to make them aware that you know they are a ******* hypocrites…..
