Official figures reveal nearly 92% of children and adolescents treated within target and half of them within 5 weeks for mental health care but the Record trusts Alex Cole-Hamilton better

Above, the truth the Daily Record did not publish today. Below, what they did publish

On June 4th 2025 (my 74th birthday), I wrote:

NHS Scotland beat a waiting times target for the second time in a row despite increased demand – how will the media spin this to get SNPBad?

I’m ahead of BBC Scotland, as I write at 11.02am, but I can smell them scurrying around, phoning someone who can be trusted to say the statistics, the same stats they trust when targets are missed, are not reliable in some way based on their wee personal experience.

This is a major achievement which deserves so much more. The staff deserve praise but may not get it other than here and in other sympathetic social media.

From Public Health Scotland today:

91.6% of people started treatment within 18 weeks of referral, which is an increase from 90.6% for the previous quarter and from 86.0% for the same quarter ending March 2024. The Scottish Government standard states that 90% of children and young people should start treatment within 18 weeks of referral to CAMHS. The chart below illustrates performance in relation to this target over the past 4 years and shows that the target was first achieved in quarter ending December 2024.

4,674 children and young people were on a waiting list to start treatment in CAMHS at quarter ending March 2025 which is an increase of 7.0% (305) compared to 4,369 in the previous quarter.

BBC Scotland seem to have given up trying to find a way to turn the story into a negative and are just ignoring it. STV, however, have:

‘Extremely alarming’: 164 children waiting over a year for mental health care

and 10 paragraphs of negative comment fed by “The Scottish Children’s Services Coalition (SCSC), an alliance of leading providers,” before giving us the published figures. There are only 4 members of the SCSC.

Surely we’ve passed the point now where anyone would deny that the Record is no more than the opposition parties’ propaganda unit?

  1. The Daily Record so desperate for any #SNPBAD story that they are even prepared to sink so very low….. that they are even willing to add an accusation from a Lib Dem branch office manager onto their front page…..so then they, the DR, are still swimming in the gutter as part of the press within Scotland….OK…got it.

Please check out on Youtube the documentary made by the late John Pilger ( a real journalist) called “The Dirty war on the NHS”………..

There is a part in it that explains how the former Lib Dem leader, Vince Cable, when he was part of the Tory/lib Dem UK government coalition.….once visited a private Hospital and he corrected a worker there, in him telling her that this now private hospital was “a business” that is the same Lib Dems who championed private healthcare via the promotion of Private hospitals while in the Tory/Lib Dem coalition UK government.

Cable instigated the privatisation of a hospital in Cambridge and was promoting a PRIVATE HEALTHCARE Company called Circle Health…….so then included in this documentary….

Cable apparently “took the founder of this private company, Circle Health, to the hospital and spoke to a woman who worked at the hospital ,Cable told her that “the hospital was to be run like a BUSINESS” and when she challenged him on this by stating “healthcare was not a business” Cable apparently said …” No dear it IS a business”…then when Vince cable was asked by the programme makers about this comment that he had made to her …..he said that he “Could not recall this conversation”…how convenient…no recall…but then no denial either.

    #LibDemsLie

So pardon me for ignoring what Cole-Hamilton has to say upon others failing any aspect of healthcare…..and he gets to say it in a Labour rag (but also a pro UK rag)……as he, Cole-Hamilton , accuses others of failures in healthcare…..when his former party leader, Vince Cable, regarded healthcare as a “business” that was better served via privatisation and not a service to provide healthcare , mental or otherwise, on those of us who are non wealthy aka ordinary patients who need (the NHS and not private healthcare) as an essential (free) service.

    #HealthcareIsNotABusiness

Can I also add that my mental health has been hugely impacted by Cole-Hamilton’s party via their lying (#AskAlex) as they have been known to ‘lie’ #Carmichael , indeed my mental health has greatly deteriorated within what is an unjust and corrupt UK State….a UK State that is holding Scotland prisoner as a nation as apparently only one supreme and dominant nation within the UK State, via it’s UK politics and UK media, controls all of the other nations within it’s UK State….and so then it , politically and via it’s media, dictates what those other nations are ‘allowed’ and not ‘allowed’ to do with them being (apparently insignificant) parts of the UK State……….now that ******* drives me ******* MAD !

Ask Emma Walker about her mental health problems with her ex party…the Lib Dems….as in #AskAlex

Hypocrites and double standards via the Lib Dems…..where it seems there are rules for them and then rules for all others (mainly those other rules being for us who support Scottish independence and also different rules for the SNP)………

  2. Cauld-Ham’s claim is based on ONE child for whom there has been a long delay. The Daily Ranger converted the time to days so that it could present a very big number.

There was no information about the particular circumstances of this child, but privacy and anonymity must be respected. Nevertheless, I think it is reasonable to surmise that there are specific reasons.
