The Reporting Scotland team were clearly delighted to tell you this morning that rural crime in Scotland climbed by an estimated 34.9% to a whopping £1.8 million in 2023, according to an NFU Mutual report.
£1.8 million, eh? Seems a lot. With 12 times the population, that must be around £22 million for the UK as a whole.
It isn’t?
BBC Scotland, contemptuous of whatabootery, unless it makes us look bad, don’t mention that it was £52.8 million, more than twice as high.
Might this be a factor?
There are 241 police officers per head of population in England & Wales and 295, 22.4% more in Scotland.
Talking-up Scotland 'Albatraz' 
Scotland may boast more police officers , more nurses , more GPs etc…per head than England but also has the most anti-SNP/Scotland propagandists , with The Herald , Scotsman , BBC Scotland and STV all doing ‘their bit’ to misinform and denigrate anything positive about ‘North Britain ‘ .
Some elected politicians , particularly several born elsewhere , work openly against Scotland’s interests knowing they will be lauded and protected by the MSM .

Indeed much to their delight RS nearly always take their lead from their Uk benefactors especially when they can demonstrate Scotland is just as bad as rUK or better still in some rare occasions… worse. It makes you wonder if like the Arm forces before joining RS they have to swear allegiance to the Crown to uphold the British state? I suspect they must also get the customary Union pyjamas, cushions as standard kit and a wee Union flag and hats they bring to their Xmas party to boost moral. Alas I guess few would see themselves as traitors. The mind boggles how they manage to sleep at night.

I do so hate to contradict John, but there is so much profit to be made from lifting ‘farming’ and ‘construction’ kit from Scotland that if a gang has to travel hundreds of miles from Bradford to pinch a trailer in Angus, topunt it to a ‘customer’ in Dorset, it’s still ‘worth it’ to them.
IIRC a brand new combine was pinched up Moray way and was never seen again….

Brexit cost the farmers and everyone else £Billions. Scotland did not vote for it.
Strawberry farm in Perth. The temporary workers are from Africa. Much more time and expense than EU workers. Time scale of getting here.
